I've got a SGS 52cc two stroke strimmer. It's about 2 years old.
Was happily strimming away. Ran out of fuel mix and it cut out. Was very hot as it had been running a good half hour. Smoked slightly.
Put more fuel mix in. Correct ratio.
Pulled cord. Squeeky noise and wouldn't turn over.
I thought it must have seized as it ran out of juice.
Took spark plug out. Squirted wd40 into the engine. Freed it up nicely.
Left it half hour.
Turns over easily now but randomly cutting out. Also lacking power.
I think it's shagged. Is it? Anything I can do?
Thanks.
Yes go and buy a Stihl strimmer.
Over the years, for me, cheap ones have not lasted.
Running out of juice meant it ran lean a bit and overheated swearing some piston over the bore, or maybe pinching the ring near the exh port. Low compression now means it spins over nicely but no power and probably crappy starting. Cheapo stroker bushwackers are notorious for poor running. Put a fresh plug in.
How old is the petrol? Is it decent 2 stroke oil, or cheap shite?
Was too busy listening to music and not keeping an eye.
Fresh fuel. Screwfix own brand oil.
I guess it's shagged then. Time to spend.
Thanks.
FWIW if it is a multitool type device, where one engine has a number of attachments it may be possible that a Stihl engine can work with them.

+1 also works for chainsaws etc.
Take the muffler off and look through the exhaust port to the cylinder. If it's scored it's knackered.
It's also worth noting that if you work out what engine it has on it, it could be as little as £26 for a replacement piston/rings/barrel, which should get it running right again.
If it really seized so suddenly the jug likely isn't scored, probably has transfer from the cylinder which can be carefully cleaned off. A piston on rings is then cheap.
However, I am doubtful it seized just because it ran empty. I think there may be a bigger problem
