I look at the classifieds and the forums as a whole as a community thing. Maybe I'm a naive socialist loony, but I think selling at a lowish price on the classifieds to other riders is in the good spirit of community and more what STW is about than the endless march for maximum profit.

The alternate view being that its the ideal place to get rid of worn out kit to the unknowing for as much as possible ? Just the same as flogging used cars on the net .

So you are under 19 and in full time Educaton (doing A levels)

Happy days..... Free Dental Care for You !!

No need to sell your bikes to pay a £1750 bill

I've had private dental care and nice bikes since I was 16.

When I was a student I bought all sorts of stupid crap then realised I had no money at the end of the month/term and had to sell stuff. All things you learn as you grow up.

If you want something and its from someone you don't want to deal with or its more than you want to pay move on. A bit like the real world.

Singlespeedshep.

An "A Level" student doesn't pay £1750 to get a tooth fixed.

And someone selling off bikes to pay debts or whatever, doesn't spend money buying bikes at the same time.

Just saying.

And even if they did, you would expect them to be frankly honest about it in the classifieds...

Haven't laughed so much in ages ....................

Slightly dodgy looking advert steer clear simple.

Buy cheap sell at a profit makes the world go round last time i looked or shall we start a mass protest at the advertisers on this very forum for daring to make a living ?? (That was of course a joke)

BEWARE, charliefjking@yahoo.com is alive a well under both these user names on here.

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/profile/traildemon1

and http://singletrackworld.com/forum/profile/sarah2012

He is also on pinkbike as kingsmountainbikes and www.americancycles.co.uk

07889208938 is common to all as well.

I have been messaging him this afternoon about his Orange Gyro he has for sale and smelled a rat. Much detective work later after he gave me the charliefjking@yahoo.com email has taken through all these users.

If any of you have doubts to his honesty, check this post out pretending he is new to the site:

Hi there,?Using my girlfriends account she just bought her new bike on here and recommended the site to me. very interested in the frame. Can you please give us a text on 07889208938 got a handful of questions but I'll more than likely have this to replace my mojo SL!?Cheers

Anyway, suffice to say I wont be taking him up on his offer.

I've been lurking on here for a while and don't often post, but felt you all had to be made aware of this slippery character.

If you're convinced that these are the same person then email the Mods as multiple userids is a no-no.

The multiple logins all selling high end kit seems a bit odd, though?

No this guy is taking the mickey big time. How can you trust someone so deceptive with simple questions of age wear, use etc.. Any dealings with him you are going to be short changed in one way or another.

Everyone has a sneaking admiration for an Arthur Daley character, but you didn't see him dressing up in disguise and changing the name of Daley Motors every week!

Just seen his, I'm convincd he's taking part infraudulant transactions imho.

Not proven but definitly guilty until proven otherwise with this one.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's the chavvy from belfast selling the curtis s1 frame (200) crc price for full build at £1350 and not a penny less even though he has listed as buy now or best offer.

Very strangeways that.

Burn the MF down!

I love it when you lot go mental about people on the classifieds when, really, he's probably just a kid who buys and sells parts to fund his hobby. So what? There is no deception. He e-mailed you, paid you and that's the end of it. The person that buys it from him obviously thinks it's still an OK deal.

mojoman- please ignore this bunch of grumpy middle aged farts and enjoy riding your bike.

Rudebwoy- there are lots of people in bike shops who couldn't fix bikes but are good sales people and know about bikes.

Similarly, when I was his age, I sailed most weekends, rode bikes a lot, did A levels and worked 20 hours a week in Morrison's. It's not so hard to believe.

Munrobiker, I presume you haven't read all of this thread, because nobody could really be as gullible as you sound.

Hora, it's not just the price, it's the lack of trust due to the lying and made up stories.

There's always going to be a certain element that will try to take advantage of genuine people on these forums.
I say do your homework before you buy and before you sell for that matter. I would rather sell to a genuine buyer for slightly less than for more to these types. If they were honest and upfront about things then maybe it would be different.
Amazing what you can find out about these characters with very little investigation.
By the way, anyone want to buy some top drawer frames, very little use 😀 need funds for another vasectomy
