XT shifter dual release unreliability

[#13536354]

I've just got a new bike with an M8100 XT shifter and an M8200 rear mech. XT shifters have a "dual release" function allowing two upshifts from one button/lever press, when doing so you can feel the shifter lever going one click, then another click as you push it further.

Occasionally the upshift lever on this new bike isn't allowing a second click, as in you press it, it clicks and upshifts once, but the lever won't go any further until you release and press it again.

I've got a couple of other bikes with M8100 shifters and I don't think I've experienced this behaviour on either. Does anyone know if this is a setup problem, or a known issue with some of these shifters or anything like that? If it's just some finicky setup thing then I'll have a go working it out rather than bothering the company I got the bike from.

The shifting works fine otherwise.

We have the same shifter/mech combo on two bikes. On both bikes I can do two upshifts (either a full sweep or consecutively) with a push on the thumb lever - as you describe in your first paragraph. When using the forefinger method I can only shift up one at a time.

We hardly ever use the thumb for upshifting!

I mostly push the upshift lever with my thumb, and it's that action that is intermittently failing to manage two upshifts with one press.
