The most impressive thing about this post is that the wife only moaned for 1 min. Mine can go on and on almost interminably about the most minor of bike related purchases. I recently noticed; though; that if she thinks I am replacing something broken she doesn't witter as much e.g. 'Just had to buy a new reverb to replace that old broken one' and rely on the fact she doesn't know any thing about bikes.

Good luck with that, a new stem came up in conversation earlier and my wife asked if it was a Chris King only to immediately correct herself by saying that CK made headsets.

Yikes.

Best advice I've been given is to always state that any purchase for the bike is 'necessary for safety' ..... it works everytime, there is no argument against it!

I went through a few days of comments and suggestions before telling her I'd bought a new frame... I had to tell her as my old on was red, and the new one is blue...

Her comment: "Your bike is red?"

I 'swapped' a SC Superlight for a Merlin Works XLM because SC had stopped building the SL and they were much in demand.

Now she as much in to bikes as me so I can't get away with it any more.
