Family ride on Saturday - easy 21km flat route around Loch Leven, perfect first ride back after my youngest broke her ankle 7 weeks ago. All went well, now to build up towards Alps family riding hol later this summer.
And somehow - despite an absolutely rammed weekend of 'family' stuff - I got a great ride earlyish on Sunday. Usual local trails inc Dumyat. Trail conditions mixed and nowhere near what's typical in June, but not surprising given last week's rain inc biblical stuff on Friday. 32km and 1100m climbing.
Away this weekend with the family. Anyone browsing the Dog thread will have seen the pics 😉 Home, triaged a few emails, then went for a ride once the temperature had dropped to just "mildly unpleasant". Even had a bit of rain. Trails are superb although tending to marbles and also massively overgrown in sections. Right arm is basically 100% nettle sting. Left arm got away with about 80%
20km, 720m, cold beers to follow. What's not to like 🙂 Same again tomorrow?
Headed out on a solo ride over the tops to Black Rocks. Bumped into a couple of mates on a ride so tagged on with them and doubled back, heading up to Stanton Moor.
There's a small stone circle up there and it's become a bit of a gathering place for hippies on the solstice and a few days either side over the years.
One of the busiest I've seen - proper festival vibe up there. They have some fires, they have a lot of rubbish, but to be honest, they've become pretty good at controlling it. It would be better if they didn't descend en masse, but would take a lot of policing to stop it
Didn't really get any decent photos, so just one of my mates I tagged onto
So, as of 13.28 Monday this became a murder scene. 26 year old Isaac Clare-Watts was apparently 'brutally' murdered at some point over the weekend. A 41yr old man is in custody after appeals for information. Looked like a gentle fun loving guy, not clear yet what actually happened 🥺

I saw that in the news. Very sad.
I know from experience it will give the place a weird vibe every time you ride there (someone was robbed/tortured/murdered in the car park of a golf course I have to cycle through to get to one of my riding sports).
