Missing the steep, fun tech of the Golfie from last weekend, so headed up to Stainburn this morning. Surprisingly greasy/muddy in spots, but Stainburn always delivers good value!
What's everyone else getting up to?
Lowest kms I’ve logged in a week since forever so I was keen for a ride this morning. Up at Tewantin with fresh legs, renewed forks and some recently tidied tracks made for a fun morning.
… and again my 4mb photos are apparently too big.
Friday evening ride on the eebs and then beers in the sun at the cricket club. Woke up at 6 this morning and went out for a pedal on the Mondraker Raze. Not ridden this bike much lately while trying to get the megatower dialled in. Forgotten how much fun it is to ride as it goes pretty well on the ups and not too bad on the down bits either.
Stayed local today. Just beautiful to see some sun, although the steeper, techy trails were still murdeously slippy in places.
3 stop xc Oxfordshire tour, 36 emiles, dry and getting hot
Community shop Hampstead Norreys for brekkie (*cracking bacon and sausage rolls) deffo worth a visit
Court Hill near Ridgeway, fluid (*and ice cream)
Letcombe community shop, fluid ( honest)
Glorious day for rolling through the countryside.
Did my usual local route this morning before it was too hot (though the warm breeze was very pleasant) - rail paths, byways and bridleways around Durham:
Centre left in that picture you can see Penshaw Monument (Herrington Park) in the distance, which is where we are off tomorrow for the Sunday of Big Weekend. The main stage was the only thing visible from here (only just - to the right of the telegraph pole!):
My "splatterbone" anniversary. Glad to get through the day with two working shoulders 🙂 Proper hot but not proper dry which led to some "ooooh" and "aaaah" moments. Two beers in myfavouritepubintheworld(tm) which was fab. Another one would have been lovely but had to ride back to Ross and then switch bikes to jam the Turbo button on the Vibe for the 10km home. 1270m on the Bronson, 295m on the ebike. Proper day out.
Few pics, mostly from @trusty phone.
Started out almost cool this morning in Dalbeattie but had a good sweat on later.
No I didn’t ride the slab on the gravel bike
Nothing special, just an afternoon bimble locally.

35 miles, 3,625ft round the Purbecks today, heaving around Sandbanks but fine out in the hills.

Giving a guy from work a tour around Kirkhill today. Was good to have company for change, although it was weird climbing at non ebike speed 😁
Local couple of hours on the Moxie from me thus morning. Lots of people out enjoying the sun! Didn't tear around too much as I gave blood on Friday, and still feeling a bit fatigued.
Callandar to Killon today. An easier day. Almost all traffic free save very scenic
Ah, my old house.
Middlesbrough to Newcastle on Friday via Durham City.I was surprised to see how damp the various surfaces were and my E-bike was covered in mud by the time I got home.

Ah, my old house.
Looks very damp 😉
Oh, it gets wetter than that.
No riding this weekend but a bit of a walk into some hills
This is why I bought an eMTB: a strict 2-hr slot between dropping off and collecting the kids from their training, so boosted it everywhere to do a route I couldn't complete with assistance, this time with ease. However, I'm getting paranoid hearing phantom noises from my Fazua motor since the recent news 😐. Colsnaur Hill (553m) Sunday morning - still warm at 15degC or so:
Then, early morning today before work. Battle of Falkirk Muir monument: marks the location of the final Jacobite victory over the British Government in 1746 before their decimation at Culloden 3 months later. Rather phallic.
Certainly made the most of it this weekend
Saturday woke up early and got out on the Raze
Sunday went out with mates on the ebikes
Then Monday I’d loaded the car up to head straight up to Peaslake after I drop my wife off at work at 6:30, but when I looked at the weather it said it was going to be 35 degrees up there so sacked that off and just went out for a local one. Beautiful morning and a nice breeze made it pretty pleasant.
The trails at Tollymore were in such perfect condition that it felt almost like a different pastime - great levels of grip. Just a stunning day to be out.
Steady bimble round Bakewell and Chatsworth this morning after a weekend in Scarbados and getting wasted in a beer garden yesterday afternoon when we got back
Costa del Tweed.
First time at the Golfie this year. My bottom bracket started creaking like a haunted door hinge from the moment I pedaled out of the car park and tortured me for the rest of the day. Still, the trails were oddly quiet and running very nicely; still a bit of moisture in the ground. Lovely little breeze on the tops was a lifesaver.
Wanted a big day out but also had a strict curfew so chose a long but steady road ride, still trying to push my distances and elevation just to see what's possible/ enjoyable!
Went straight north from Crieff taking in Aberfeldy, Kinlochrannoch, Trinafour, Calvine, then back again but returning via the Kenmore zig-zags. Easy gravel gearing sort of made the Kenmore climb a bit of an anti-climax!
Loch Tay from Kenmore looking lovely in the sun
