Always fancied a Wild but couldn't get past the headset routing and the lack of options to deristrict (shush) Bosch motors with the rim sensor.
Might go back on the list for the next bike, but there are a lot of competitors now
Yeah, headset routing is awful on the current one. One of the big reasons I didn't go for one.
That’s a whole lot of ‘meh’ for me 🤦♂️
Good to see them double down on next level pointless integration.
Wonder if this will snap seat stays for fun like the last 2 versions of the Wild (3 in a year on my last one & the guy who bought it from me has done another 2 sets 😆)

I'm not going to buy one (or any ebike) any time soon so I'm not the best judge.
But I appreciate the extra work they've put in to add features to distinguish themselves from every other brand that just half arsedly assembles components around an avinox motor.
Headset routing is definitely optional on the new one (though the pic I saw had the control wire from the controller going through it).
They are the only brand that I'm aware of that's making any attempt to add something distinct to their bikes on top of the motor, and when that's become the main factor in a lot of peoples bike choice that's pretty smart.
The button controller looks and feels good too and having their own dropper and it all powered by the motor is smart. The custom tune/ride profile is most interesting though - they seem to have limited the power to 750w and supposedly have tweaked the response behaviour as well. Again, theres a load of different variables you can set on the Avinox (and other motors) and I suspect most buyers never change anything and actually doing back to back testing and working out how all the settings interact isn't something everyones got time to do. Again, that's smart smart - theres no reason every brand couldn't have couldn't have their own profile so that their bikes riding differently, even if they'v got the same motor.
(given all that Orbea did on the Shimano motor was limit the power in each mode I do. wonder if theres anything they've put into their profile that isn't accessible to every Avinox user via their app? RobRidesEMTB says "a faster startup and more aggressive power ramp at lower RPM". So I suspect not. Not sure I'd want that either - that sounds more 'Bosch like' and less 'natural' to me)
He Simon, yeah totally different and non-accessible. It’s not even a manufacturers app. It’s in the actual programming. It’s been months of developing.
Everyone is different.i was lucky to be a tester and compared to the standard Avinox it’s much more reactive and alive. Much more natural in my opinion. Because it reacts faster you need less power. But you can read others opinions on the web, there are lots of tests who explain it more impartially than me.
The RS integration is on the top two models. If you don’t want the dropper then you can easily not have it too. Each to their own.
Im not going to give opinions here, I’ve been too close to this project as a tester and also guiding the press launch. Happy to clarify technical things though.
If I wake up tomorrow and find that I'm suddenly a rich dentist, I'll be considering one of these. Arguably falls into the category of "window-dressing", but the configurator function on their website is lots of fun to play with: "Oooooohh, PPppRReettTTY CccOOoolllLlooOuuUuuRRrrRssssSs".
They've tuned the motor their way, but you can change it to more normal settings if you prefer.. And they have their RS integration, which is again optional - but a wireless dropper run off the main battery only makes sense for me.

If you create a custom profile (which it seems you can do and take the power all the way up to 1300w and change other settings) it still has the Orbea 'reactivity' tune?
Do the non RS models have the standard shifter?
Looks like a pretty keen price point as well - m10 is, as before, my sort of sweet spot. All 'high end' parts without being ridiculous.
Also interesting that they all come with the 4A charger as standard (£140 upcharge for 12A) - even the 12k model. The fast charger seems a good thing for some situations - were Orbea finding that it is hard on the batteries?
Good questions. I think I’ll get the m10. But honestly the Rs dropper is tempting.
yes you can add custom modes and up to 1300w if you want. Settings like overrun, fine-tune etc you can change in any mode.
It’s a great way to learn first hand that torque is what is dominant at the cadence most people use on technical trails. Ie at 50-60 rpm the 130nm torque limit is much more relevant than the difference between 750 and 100W.
You still get the reactivity, no matter what you do, which is the difference. FWIW I tried different settings and went back to 750w. I occasionally have a boring fire road blast and up it a bit, but the reality is that if you push on the pedals / do some excercise, you are quickly banging off the speed limiter.
I don’t know about the charger decision. My take is that we should always charge our batteries as slowly as possible, so we should all have a slower charger. The fast one is for when you need it, not your default charger. But that’s just my opinion, not based on any knowledge apart from a bit about battery lifetime and charging speed / temperature.
Most models have the orbea shifter. Which I would always want personally. Some dont, the web has the details.
From PinkBike, quoting Orbea
Users will be able to customize assistance modes through the Avinox app without losing the performance benefits of the RS firmware and if they choose they could add a mode with full power. Through extensive trail testing, with many riders
and from the article. re how they tuned it
Pedal angle, 5x more sensitive. Pedal torque, 2x more sensitive. Pedal speed, 3x more sensitive. Assist start curve, 3.2x faster yield versus stock
If I was in the market for a full power bike this would definitely be at the top of the list. Good to see there are still alloy models too. Definitely something I'll consider if/when it's time to retire my Rise... unless of course they update the Rise by then.
Starts at 6.999k?
Nope. 😐 I'll keep my current Wild going.
