Thursday night too early?
Excellent Cut Gate / Derwent Edge / Les Arcs ride last night with @el_boufador of this parish. 44km/1300m climbing - was ace!
SUMMER Solstice - this year is having a laugh.
Great ride, great pics though 👍
Jevington south downs route from mbuk 165 today. I've been meaning to do it for ages, and glad I did. The weather was perfect. Spitfire flying over beachy head (couldn't get a decent pic) gave the ride proper mint sauce vibes!
Stopped at the Longman brewery for a sausage roll and a cheeky beer after. Also made a new friend.

That sounds like just what I am after for Monday. Do you have any links, Stravas or pointers?

L2B is always on father's day, so the beacon is closed to traffic, so EpicJnrJnr and EpicJnrSnr joined for a cheeky ascent. A great opportunity to finally get @nbt and @bunnyhop erstwhile tandem out for a ride, w JnrSnr stoking and JnrJnr on a MTB riding shotgun. It was hot early doors, so it's going to be a tough climb for everyone climbing in full heat. Lad taking the opportunity to do it in his wheelchair surely the winner of today's kudos.
Excellent.
Did Epic jnrjnr fancy a bit of being the stoker, also did Epic Jnrsnr fancy a bit of Captain action? 😀
Out again briefly this morning - a leisurely saunter on the gravel bike. Some of the trails are very overgrown now!
Did a Hayfield loop, Elle bank, shooting cabins, Latern pike, not many miles buts quite a bit of elevation - on a stupidly hot day, so y'know, good move...
Headed out on a solo ride over the tops to Black Rocks. Bumped into a couple of mates on a ride so tagged on with them and doubled back, heading up to Stanton Moor.
There's a small stone circle up there and it's become a bit of a gathering place for hippies on the solstice and a few days either side over the years.
One of the busiest I've seen - proper festival vibe up there. They have some fires, they have a lot of rubbish, but to be honest, they've become pretty good at controlling it. It would be better if they didn't descend en masse, but would take a lot of policing to stop it
Didn't really get any decent photos, so just one of my mates I tagged onto
A couple from Thursday's cut gate ride with @hardtailonly
Then a couple from today, steady local xc trying to rid myself of a hangover. Inflicted it on myself pretending to be a student in Sheffield last night (helping our eldest move student house. Accidentally went to a tech house night at Kelham Island and it was great)
My son took me on some of his trails in the Hindhead Devil's Punch Bowl for Father's Day. Some of it was pretty scary stuff for an old codger used to pootling round the south downs lately. We only managed an hour cos it was so hot, like a tropical jungle down in the bowl, with no breeze. I was even overheating on the ebike, so when he said he'd had enough, I was happy to stop and go to the pub.
Didn't take photos, just one of my awesome Father's Day gift 😀

Beautiful day yesterday down Loch Ericht, round to Loch Laggan and up past Phoines to Loch Cuaich and back to Dalwhinnie. Hot, sunny, awesome tracks. More of this please.
4 day long weekend around the 7 Stanes for me, trying to keep up with ebikes. Thursday at Dalbeattie was biblical rain but still good fun. Inners on Friday riding a mix of official and unofficial trails due to diversions and riding what looked fun. Glentress Saturday in the sun, shame half of the black is closed but enough there's for a day. Yesterday was a big day at the golfie, great fun as always ![]()
