This is a fair part of why I moved to Scotland from Northern Ireland when a young adult. When I go home to see family I'm always disappointed by the amount of unnecessary signs etc.

That article is interesting. I think there are a small number of people who worry about and campaign about these issues, the rest of us just ride our bikes. It's a shame if it affects events. I'm not sure what kind of hoops have to be jumped through to allow established mtb events to continue.
It's interesting that the only events being cancelled have gravel in the name.
