Hi, I'm converting my old Cannondale f800 to a SS MTB and had been looking at the White Industries Double/Double for gearing - I currently run SS for my CX racing, running a Felt Breed with a 36 on the front and White Ind Dos 16/18 freewheel on the back and I get round pretty much everything.
I want to be able to get around my local area, which will include the Peaks, I know I'm going to have to push every now and then, but I reckon a 32/20 would seem about the level most people go for, if a bit spiny.
The Double/Double offers an option - supposedly for a 29" - that has 34/31 at the front and 16/19 at the back, this to me seems a perfect option, can't see any reason why the recommended 29" can't go on a 26"??
So, thought/responses/advice on using double/double and gearing ratios welcome - to help me finalise my plan
