Ive switched to 2.25 Rocket Rons cos I got fed up with sketchy handling on 2.1 XC Pros. So far, so good!

during the summer, either racing ralph rear or a crossmark rear. Havent had much success on the front tbh. for winter, medusa on the front and back, they are amazing!

Really just depends what sort of C you're Xing, and in what manner. Highrollers, Nevegals or Nobby Nics for me- not fast, not slow, not hardpack tyres, not mud tyres, just tyres that do everything.

Bloody hell, the advert at the side of the screen just made a scary noise, I just about jumped out of my skin.

Nobby Nic's for me, been good throughout the year. Prior tyres were Nevegals, although i found to be a bit slow rolling.

Tried a few now but I like Conti Verts, Stable on the downs with good cornering, plenty of grip in the mud and uphill. Bit draggy on the road but i'll take that for the performance elsewhere.

i used ralphs all year last year both front and back. in all conditions, all year. (even in the lakes on 4" thick slabs of ice)

This year i've put a Nobby Nic on the front, as its alot "softer" where i ride regularly, and its a bit more stable up front with a knobblier tyre.

Also a Nobby Nic UST man - just a great allrounder.

High Rollers can be good - but you need to know the right one to get as there are loads of different types.

If conditions are good (ie not at the moment anywhere in the UK) and you really want maximum speed with at least a bit of grip then the Hutchison python UST is a classic fast rolling tyre.

I've fell on me aris a few times recently on roots / mud, so think I'm going to slap a couple of grip monsters on the XC bike. Something like a Maxxis swamp thing or a Conti Rubber queen has a good rep for really bad conditions.

If maxxis is your thing, I am running a 62A larsen TT (2.0) on the back and a 2.35 Super tacky high roller on the front, works well.

In my opinion, avoid the 70A high rollers, Get the 62A eXceptions/maxxpro

Does anyone have any suggestions for a LUST, 1.9 or 2.0 max, fairly light tyre that will work in sticky clay and mud?
