As the title says.
On one inbred x5 29er but with the scandal alloy frame or Cube 29er Ltd.
I can not test ride either of these as On one is too far away and the Cube is not in stock at LBS.
I am literally 50/50 so I need some help.
Thanks.
Personally I would go for the Scandal with swap outs 🙂
I know the Scandal is a sweet bike.
I've had two Cubes and they've both been excellent VFM crammed with good items, the scandal would be easier to personalise
Thanks Monkey for input, are swap outs things you upgrade later?
Swapouts enable you to run it as either singlespeed or geared.
I am umming and ahhing whether a Scandal will suit my personal riding needs.
I was way impressed by the Scandals I have come across, they are uber light and look sweet.
are you sure its the scandal frame with swapouts?
the cube looks good. Shimano instead of Sram too but would have to look at the frame geometry.

I'm having the very same conundrum. The inbred is cheaper but the kit on the cube looks a lot better. So far the cube is winning.
New Scandal build launching Friday. I think it's x5 with a recon silver for £799.
Might be an x9 upgrade. I will check.
Will there be a new inbred build as well? I notice the stock on the inbred x5 29er is running down and I'm coming up to new bike time!
I've had a series of inbreds, the original, a couple of 456's in a couple of different sizes and a Ti one too. I've not had anything more recent than a mk1 Ti 456.
It used to be that Inbreds were cheap, had fairly nice geometry but were a bit heavier than fancy steel ht's because of the straight gauge tubing. I found the original 100mm suspension corrected pre CEN inbred fairly nice with a big set of tyres. The same is true of the steel 456's, but they were markedly stiffened and didn't offer that flexy steel ride the people talk about.
Personally, I'd go for the scandal over the inbred. It's a lot lighter while being as stiff.
No idea about the cube.

Inbreds have never had straight gauge tubing.
That's me corrected. What are they brant?
Charlie at on one, did mention a scandal with x5 gear on it. Not sure what that means tbh.
You guys have been been really helpful. I still can't decide so I guess it is best to go to lbs and see if he can get a cube ltd 29er for me to test.
I really want an everyday training bike for fitness and leisure. Not bothered about speed or weight. My local track 200m away is the 7 stanes Dalbeattie. Bit gnarly and granite can be quite tough on the bikes.

Essentially, we're launching a new model, that has the same running gear as the old X5 Inbred, but is built on the Scandal V2 Swapout frame, with a tapered fork, and is the same price.
On Friday.
