I've a Kinesis Pro 6, looking for some light wheels... suggest me a build...
Pro 2s on Stans etc? Mavic Open Pros?
Currently have rather heavy 29'er Mavic 719 36 spoked hoops on Hope pro 2s (good for the heavy touring I did).
Looking for something much lighter and good for the road too.
Cheers in advance.
I've just bought a set of Novatec CXD & they look great for the cash to be fair.
Light, easy to work on & from what I've heard reliable, but this season will tell, although I know the hubs are great going by last season.
I've built Pro2's on Stans & Open Pro's with excellent reliability too however, just a touch heavier.
Don't discount Pacenti rims either-really nice to build with & seem nice & stiff.
if disc Shimano mtb hubs on aileron rims, bullet proof and tubeless
I have a pair of mavic ksyriums which are great on and off the road.
Kimesis is a well regarded wheelset if you can find them in stock
Yes they need to be disc compatible.
I went for pro 2s on stans Grail rims.
Probably not the lightest but a nice strong wheel set.
Just Riding Along do what looks like a good wheelset feat. Pacenti Rims.
same frame and I've got velocity A23 on hope hubs. Apparently people have had issues with those but mine are ok? Now I'd probably go for the stans CX specific rim for general riding or if purely racing then some of those carbon ones that keep coming up on here - wouldn't fancy them much for general riding as mine take a fair battering from rocks on mtb trails.
Lighter depends on how heavy you are. 32 spoke is fine for my 29er so ok for my cx. Shimano hubs are heavy although their complete wheels can often be light. I don't like cup and cone so that would be a no no for me.
Novatech hubs onto a light rim would probably be slightly lighter than hope.
