There seems to be a bit of a 50/50 on the subject now.
I know it's a lazy post considering the amount of older chatter on the subject.
Talking about plain china carbon frames, not fakes.
Not interested in components.

If you can find one that have been bought and used and reviewed by genuine owners and you particularly want plastic frame then take a chance......no different I suppose to a budget frame from anywhere else made out of snapable thin alu tubing or dodgy welds.......
For me I would never risk my weight on one 😆

I've got a Deng Fu FM208. I had low expectations. It's brilliant. Great finish, built nicely, rides really well. Would have another without consideration. Only a few months old though, I'll feel differently when it snaps and carbon shards pierce my heart.

99% of bike frame production coming out of China - bit like asking an opinion on French wine. Big thread on MTBR to find out who the reputable models / sellers are, or simply buy an On One with expensive stickers - they're just open mould frames these days too.

I was looking into this till I just got a Scott Alu frame (only 200g heavier than the Chinese frame I was looking at). Deng fu, Hong fu and xmcarbonspeed seem to be the popular ones

My mate has one of them chinarellos....he has had it for 3 years now...rides it all year round...!!
I've checked it over the other day doing a service on it....and it's perfect...no cracks or splits...
The only thing is the paint work is starting to fade in 2 small places, but the considering the price he paid for it....I would say they are great value!!

Fairly sure mine is made in China - Pedalforce branded, a reputable direct source with backup and a reputation for good after sales service.

A tad more expensive than some, but IMHO worth the difference because you know it's decent quality - something which is a bit random with most of the knock-offs.

+1 for Hongfu. The Planet-X RT80 lookss exactly like the FM066 I had. It was fine but I think I bought the wrong size so I sold it.

Good for you. I was happy with my choice! Chosen over an S-Works Tarmac or Trek Emonda SLR, don't regret it!

Bikebouy all good, bit of life got in the way. Just cannon fodder in vets road and cross racing. Plan to do the same in 2016.

😯 how much do they cost now??

My Deng Fu was about £300 and something.

That's a second hand CAAD or similar.

I've had my Flyxii FR-322 for eighteen months now and it's faultless really. Coming up to 10000 summer miles and it's not burst into flames yet. I would have another without a doubt. I needed a replacement BB cable guide for it and after an email to the factory they posted me on out for the grand sum of £3.44p, bargain.

I have one of those from HongFu too, happened to notice on Strava the other day that its got 3k+ miles on it now. Not dead yet.

That said, the PlanetX version was down to £400 in their clearance sale at the end of last week, so regardless of your opinion of their marketing/service its probably not worth ordering from china!

Yeah still that sort of money - mine was $900 custom painted, just meant I was comparing to top end frames, and chose the Deng Fu. I had low expectations, but it surpassed them!

Encouraging, I was thinking about a canti cross frame for next season.
So no hurtling off Alpine summits.

China? because they seem to offer some half decent canti cross frames.
