trail centres, thinking my summer front tyre might not cut it in Scotland in October, cross mark on the back should be ok, but what rubber for the front? more xc than "all mountain Hero lite" so no heavy weights and must roll well as i'll need all the help i can get uphil
running ardents at the mo, plenty grippy.....but a bit thin on the sidewall for me.
but you are a fair bit lighter..........so would be fine for you. 8)
I'd go with Ardent - but put an Aspen on the back.

But it really depends on where in Scot your going? Rocky/peaty hard looose?
I find big volume tyres get the sides ripped out of them alot if its rocky. hence the 2.25 ardent in the rear. But I've tried the 2.4 ardent up front and if you can pick nicer lines it works well.

you should be able to get the 2.4 through there.
It'll be GT and inners so not that rocky
hopefully the larry wont have the sides ripped out, i'm doing Trans Provence in the mdi Alps and its rocky there, thats why I've put it on!!!

There are other combinations of Fat front too depending on Fork choice, the enabler isn't suitable for 26" frame builds, you would want Surly, vicious or Fatback forks for that really.
Surly has rear brake spacing so requires the use of a rear hub on the front, the others take a genuine 135mm front hub.
other Rim choices are kris Holm, Speedway (fatback)
Other hub choices (depending on fork) are (135mm) Paul Components, Phil Wood, Fatback and Hadley
(135mm rear disk spacing e.g. Salsa enabler/SurlyPugsley) Any rear you like although Single speed hubs are the strongest due to lower dish build.
And yes I am a Fatbike saddo.

Haha it is a bit of an (expensive) minefield. Looking more on the half fat side at the moment and I think a trials rim at 40mm+ will be fine front and back with a Larry - rear is going to have a Nokian 3.0 as it just fits the frame I have.
I have a couple of Surly forks, an offset Pugsley 135mm and a hybrid non-offset 130mm which has a shorter axle to crown so may be better with the Larry on the front. Just need the wheels and front tyre now to get up and running so currently looking for two trials rear wheels options to keep the build price down. I really should get round to trying to build one I suppose but a fat wheel is probably not the best place to start!

Nobby Nic 2.25. Hated the 26" version with a passion but the 2010 29er incarnation is a truly superb all rounder and plenty tough in Snakeskin version. I swore by 2.25 Ardents before, which are great but lack outright grip in comparison the NN.

the Surly fork is available as the 135 offset for rear hubs using a rear disc mount-as comes with the framesets and also inline to to fit a regular 100mm front hub with standard front brake mounting 😮
Fatbike owner too but far from sad for it 😉
