Brother had his Commencal hardtail nicked and has been offered something of similar value from Wheelies. Best option seemed to be a 2010 Orange G2 S. He's think about selling this straight on as he's got access to cycle to work scheme and wants something a bit better.
Orange retails for £649 - what would it be worth 'second hand' - but brand new in box?

Get him to ask wheelies for a cash settlement, they sorted me out when they couldn't replace like for like.
