21st march :Cannock Chase is home to the Midlands’ first dedicated mountain bike trail – the seven mile Follow the Dog trail. Phase 2, an all-new technical trail, is due for completion by Easter 2010 – just in time for our demo! Rock sections, timber trails and other technical features will combine to provide a step up from Follow the Dog. Linking the two will deliver 13 miles of way-marked trails.

But offical site

We've still got some work to do to this trail and it, along with the rest of Phase 2, remains closed. The trails might look finished and ok to ride but please don't. At the moment we're working with the project partners to confirm the date of the Phase 2 opening and launch although at the moment it won't be for a number of weeks to come, watch this space.

We're now on top of the repair work and are on the finished straight for the completion of other outstanding works.

Word was officially put out there (not by Chase Trails) that the launch was provisionally 23rd March but subject to final confirmation.

We now have a confirmed date which is indeed Saturday 17th April 2010. More details to follow over the coming weeks.

Don't suppose there is a map available of Phase 2 yet, or you know when it will go up on the chasetrails website? Presumably there isn't anything yet as that would just encourage even more people to ride it early! I'm interested to see how it all fits together with the current FtD.

timmys, there is no general release map out yet, there will be a bsic one on our website at some point to let people work out where we are referring to in the event of maintenance closures etc as there is currently for FtD. There will then be a fold out map available to buy from Birches Valley as there does seem to be a lot of demand for people to be able to have a map on them when they go out to ride a waymarked trail?!? Taht'll cost a quid or two from the bike shop.

rocketdog, bad boy... ;o)

Is it worth a visit with those bits of ftd closed or best avoided until the work's done?

Is the new section similar to FTD or is a bit more 'RAD'?

NW Alps, Phase 2 takes the best bits of FtD (in our opinion) and ups the game. We will now have a truer red graded trail with a number of black options.

And a previe Bike Radar did earlier in the year
