The usual questions apply....
Do you have a road bike already? i.e. are you upgrading?
What do you intend to use it for?
Will you be commuting on it?
Using it through winter? (mudguard clearance may be an idea)
Will you be racing?
Will you be doing sportives?
Have you tried any for fit already or do you know what size you're after? Etc etc etc

Yes, have a road bike and am upgrading.
Using it for club runs over the summer, not racing but needs to be fast... don't want anything too sportivey. Needs to be size 52cm ish.
Cheers, just after a heads up on any deals out there...

joolsburger, you have good taste. I've been drooling over an acciaio for ages and I'm so tempted to just get a frameset and stick everything off my current bike onto one.

Have you looked at the Canyon CF SL?

A great frame, Ultegra and Ksyrium Elites for well under budget.

And they may even deliver it this year

Giant Propel. Fantastic frame, reasonable (105) build. You won't find any deals. Must like orange.

For less racy, a Defy Advanced. That Canyon was rated very highly in the Comic last week. But buy the best frame you can, and the Propel frame is a pro-level absolute peach - just ask Marianne Vos.

Canyons are huge VFM and nice bikes, check out their outlet page? (at least it'll be on stock!)

Westbrook (as linked by scaredy) have loads of Scotts cheap

Have you looked at Rose bikes? Similar on-line setup to Canyon, but have a lot more flexibility around changing different components than Canyon, and also appear to have a much shorter delivery time. You can get a full Ultegra with Mavic Kysirium Elite wheels for just shy of 1700 quid.

Another option would be a Focus Cayo Evo 4.0 with full Ultegra for £1999.

Anyone got a Scott foil 15? I'm tempted but have read that they can be harsh. Just wondering if that's real, or just jurnos looking for something to say because all road bikes actually feel the same.

I've got a foil frame - not same model but same shop, same sale last year.

They'll take a 28mm tyre no bother, which is what mine has on.

Doesn't seem harsh at all to me but I ride for a max of 2-3hrs currently (and I do use tubeless 28s). I'm about 90kg, if that makes a difference.

(I do have a Ti cross frame that really does feel smooth (bit weird and floaty somehow, but nice). The scott is definitely NOT like that - direct would be fair, I think.

Thanks. I was thinking of running one with 25mm tubeless for an ironman. Don't fancy the commitment of a full on TT bike. Want something I can use afterwards as well.

http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;n ... ;orderby=2 check the size but that is a ridiculous bargain and would allow some extra wheels or a week somewhere riding it !

Ridiculously harsh and twitchy. IMHO, far too harsh to enjoy riding on UK roads. They're a pure race bike really, great for smooth crit circuits but I'd go for something comfier if you want to enjoy your rides. Scott aren't the best at making bikes comfortable, I have a CR1 which is fairly harsh considering its intended use.

That Canyon got 10/10 in last week's <£2000 group test. I wouldn't be looking anywhere else if I was shopping in that price bracket.

In typical STW style, I'll recommend what I've got: Giant TCR Advanced 2. Not the best on spec on paper but the frame is incredible. Stiff, fast, responsive and handles like it's on rails.

If you want stiff/light/comfortable all in the same bike, check out the KTM Revelator range. Again in the STW fashion if recommending your own bike, I've been running one for a few months now and it is a very impressive frame. For £2k off the shelf you're looking at full Ultegra, Mavic Ksyriums and a Fizik saddle too, so value is good. Weight wise it's a 7.5kg bike, which is good for that money. I bought a frame and built it up with a selection of my own components, running a mix of SRAM Force/Red 10spd, Hope Pro3 SP/Stans wheels and tubeless 25 Schwalbe One's, mine comes in at 7.5kg including pedals, cages, Garmin mount and cadence sensor.

In the world of internet bargains right now though, I'd struggle to look past the 2013 Cannondale Supersix Evo with SRAM Red at £2099 from Paul's Cycles. A massive 40% off! Amazing frame, the best/lightest 10spd groupset out there (11 really doesn't add anything IMO, except more expensive and faster wearing chains), and for a bargain price. Only thing I'd do to it is sell the Ksyriums and go tubeless on it.
