My 12 year old daughter has just started local triathlons. The cycling legs are all on gravel or grass and she has a heavy sit up and beg hybrid bike and a second hand racer. Clearly the racer is much lighter, easier to pedal and to handle but it has 23c road tyres on it.
I have tried to fit 35c tyres which just wont fit! I dont really want to buy a CX bike but wondered if there are any low volume tyres <25c with grip enough for (wet) grass?
Thanks
i think scwalbe cx pro in 30c (measures smaller) is one of the smallest CX tyres.
other than that a touring type in a 28c although they'll be heavy as hell.
or halo twin rail (maybe not grippy enough?)
she must be light, get the pressure as low as possible. it's impressive how much a 'slick' will grip at low pressure.
