Ok so i have fallen for riding a 29er in a big way and as a result it looks like my 21' 9mth old Blur LT will have to go (£800 if anyones interested) but i need some info first.

I'm looking for a hard tail that will take a longer fork than the current 100mm Minutes i am running, something more freeride/AM what ever you call it (Wales trail centre wheels of the ground friendly) than the current more XC orientated frame that i have.

Was thinking of the Chumba HX2 but want to know what other options are out there?

Any ideas ??

Ive run my Ti29 with 120mm 20mm thruaxle rebas but 30% ish of sag.

Needed to flip the stem and ought to go for lower rise bars to keep my nose down, but otherwise it handled very well in Luchon.

Now at 100mm (more suited to the frame I guess) but to be honest Im not sure it makes much difference.

Ive not seen any frames specifically for 120mm, but then Ive not been looking. Is that Chumba a big hitter then? I shall go and investigate..... 🙂

No nor have i. Just wondered if any of the more experenced 29er riders, bike shop owners etc etc might know of anything out there that suited.

I do like the Chumba though 😕

Although Chumba say 5" fork the geometry figures on the site are for a 100mm.

I'd be tempted to stick to 100mm. The BB is already 12.5 a longer fork is just going to raise it.

Well in that case martin it opens up the choice of available forks quite nicely 😀

I'm going custom steel build from a local frame builder.

Designed around the Reba Team Maxle @ 120mm, which for me is all the fork I need (my WB 135 is up for sale 😉 ), slacked out, short CS's, curved TT...

The Wolfhound is a gorgeous looker for sure, but is £2K 😯

This custom 853 is £400

I've got 29in versions of the Blue Pig and MmmBop on the drawing board at the moment, but things are backed up with first production run, twinklydave/terrahawks rigid 29er race bike, and the SS I decided I wanted the other day.

Doing a "proper" 29er fork to 69 the current models too though. Bit like Sam@Singular did with the Hummingbird.

Go on then tell us about it.

Rode Dave's Kona and thought "ooh, I miss this" as I was up the front on all the climbs.

Working on something with EBB, short chainstays, slack seat angle, 26in w/140's or 29in w/rigid.

Steel for now. Essentially a Blue Pig front triangle with a different seat tube and back end on.

Suddenly lost interest.

As the Blue Pig geared 26er will begat the Blue Pig 26er SS, so will the 29er begat the 29SS 😉

Drawing board is fine for now - need factory/agents concentrating on stuff, not confusing with too much at one time.

Looks like sticking to robbing banks to pay for my 29er ss habit for a while longer then. 😉

How about the Ragley Ti 29er are Lynskey busy at the moment?

I’d love one of them as my birthday present to my self. A 29er designed of a long fork with a lovely curved seat tube like the on-one would the dream machine for me! Crosses fingers and hopes
