I've got some Pedro's bio-cleaner and it's just about to run out, what do you all use, is this dirt juice citrus degreaser that you dilute any good?

I take my chain off and give it a shake around in a pot if white spirit, comes out looking almost new. If you use a powerlink it's a quick job.

"I can't believe it's not Muc Off" AKA Fenwicks FS1. I use a Park tools chain cleaner & fill it with the diluted bike wash. Give it a whirl & the chain's clean. Then a quick blast of compressed air to dry off 8)

Howzat ?

I never take my chain off my bike except for replacing it. But a drop of comma engine degreaser( buy it from any motorist discount shops and is a tenner, which will last many years) and a paintbrush , soak the chain and leave for 5 mins and hose off is fantastic stuff and not got a cycle premium that a lot of products from bikeshops seem to have.

White spirit in a chain bath, followed by Finesse Multi-Clean and a hose down with the rest of the bike.

+1 white spirit.
Old water bottle - chain in - white spirit in - shake - repeat with clean WS until chain clean.
Pour dirty WS into other container - leave till dirt settles on bottom - next day - carefully pour off clean WS back into clean WS container.
Get a couple of years out of a 4L container of WS.

Yes it is I would recommend it, use concentrate on chain/drive chain. Dilute it in the sprayer for frame etc.
There double pack is good value and last well.

Do a search on here for more advice, been a couple of threads on this.
I use some finesse degreaser in a 2L milk container and shake. Give it a 2nd go if chain is very greasy. Decant off the clean fluid once the froth has settled to use again.

I use squirt on the FS and find its great even in winter here in Wales, also good in the summer - which is generally wetter 🙁

In winter after a ride slip chain, indoors over a radiator, put back on before ride, reapply, leave 15 minutes to dry before riding. works well.

Muc Off degreaser on the chainset whilst washing bike then run it through an old sock to finish off - turn inside out before throwing sock away - recycling at its best keeps the planet & wheels spinning 🙂

This stuff,
Bought loads to put through the karcher when b&q were practically giving it away.
It says its biodegradable and can be used on patios, cars, pastic windows and patio furniture.

So I gave it a go in the park tool chain cleaner 1 part to 10 parts water,
Works a treat.

I use fenwicks to actually clean the bike but could not afford it in the park chain tool as I always seem to be cleaning the chain at the moment.[img] [/img]

Fenwicks concentrate diluted to about 30% in a chain bath. Works well

1st: Paraffin and an old toothbrush
2nd: Water and Muc Off (neat)
3rd: Clean water rinse
4th: WD40 to drive out the water
5th: Lube

I do this every 2-3 weeks.

I spray neat Muc-Off on after every ride and then give it a good pull through an old rag. A quick squirt of GT85 to keep the rust monkeys away and then re-lube before next ride.

Give the cassette a squirt of Muc-Off and good scrub with one of them brush things designed for the job...

Cheers

Danny B

Washing up liquid and a Finish Line Grunge Brush. Gets the chain shiny and takes about as long as removing the chain!

Hot water in an old plastic jug. Big dash of whatever the missus is using in the washing machine. Chuck chain in. Scrub it around with a long handled washing up brush.Leave for a bit. Scrub it again.
Dry chain on old rag. Stick it in an old tin, spray with gt85. Dry it in rag agin. Hang it up and oil it, wipe off, go ride. Do it again maybe a fortnight later......Or a month 🙄

I found Squirt can freeze at height in snow. Purple Extreme for me til next chain.
For cleaning, the soapy water I use for the rest of the bike but in a chain machine.
Degreasers only if something is really truly filthy for some reason. Used to need them more when I used Wet type lubes.
Fenwicks FS1 is degreaser of choice and then as concentrate plus judicious dilution for requirement in hand.
