I've got one with EC and one with FC on the bb cups. I want to know what the difference is, as I'm trying to work out a suitable sealed bearing replacement.
Many Thanks
Never heard of a BB with EC- prefix being shimano if HTII ext BB?
I also though FC means front crank?
Piccies?
All the info, links to bearings etc....

I presume on teh other side they have the FC-8465.... code on them?
If non of that other thread helps, the bearings should have what they are etched onto them..

Makes sense Druid. I am sure like tinsy says the FC-code will tell you more.
Foxy, I am not sure what an FC code is, but it does look like a Shimano thing, the bearings however once removed should have what they are etched onto them, if you have bionic eyes you can sometimes make out what it says... or just follow the link to the 6805-2RS bearings at £1.60 a pop..
Arr, they refer to a year/month code. Thank you druidh. I was wondering if they also indicated if they were 6 or 7mm bearing cups.
If anyone knows where to get the 6mm bearings, please let me know.
Also, thanks for the other info. I knew most of that but one or two useful things in that, especially using my headset press to press the bearings in the bb cup. Top tip :))
FC code i.e. FC-M770? model number - some have BB-
Yeah a bloke on the other thread said he had the 6mm ones, I didnt find any, I rekon for the minimal outlay its worth trying some 7mm ones in it, at the very worst case you could maybe run a spacer less uner the cups, also what I found on my deore was that the std bearings were completely unsealed themselfs, so even if you have to leave out the outer lip seal that pops in the cup, it might just work out..
Bit of trial and error, but you have nothing much to lose really, if the 7mm bearings wont run in it (but I bet they will with a little thought and effort), I will have them off you.. or I can send you a set to try for postage as long as you replace em if it all works.
