Hey everyone

Ive got a set of magura julie hp disc brakes with 203mm magura rotors,

these are attached to my pikes via the magura disc adaptor for 203mm discs (QM-5)

However only about 1/3 to a 1/2 of the isc baking surface and brake pad is actually in contact on braking.

I'm stuck for ideas to be honest.

Any help much appreciated
Ryan

Do you have the right adaptor for a 203mm rotor? I bought a dowhill bike second hand which had the same troube to find the lad who has sold it me had a 203 adaptor but was running a 185 rotor.

Hey just double check and they're definately 203mm rotors
only thing i can think of is the disc adaptor is wrong

Does any one know whether the IS tabs on rs Pikes are for 160mm or 180mm as that could explain it?

cheers

Pikes are ready built for 180mm rotors, so if you got a 160 - 203mm adaptor it'd be way too big. You effectively just need a 160 - 180mm adaptor.
Minute adjustments on pad placement can be done easily on post mount brakes with washers between the brake and the mount, but I don't know if you could do anything like that with a IS mount brake.
That big a gap sounds like a wrong size adaptor, though.

I went through exactly the same thing with my Pikes and Avid Juicys.
Got a 203mm and 180mm adaptor kit for front and rear, had a big gap, then realised that the front was 180mm already. You need to get a 180mm one for the front instead.
I'm in the process of getting mine exchanged - sounds like you need to do the same!

Thanks so much for all your help

I'm just i the process of attaching some old disc mounts ~180mm and a few washers and all seems good. Oddly the rear disc mount also had the same problem (its a onone456)but i'm sure they're meant for 160mm discs.

Anyways alls well that ends well
