Wooohooo count the digits on that temperature forecast, there are two of them!
I'm out tonight, rural slash urban as per. Do I risk going back to shorts after several months of longs? defo base layer off the top half. Could almost be spring!
Where you off? 😀

I went out on the CXer today, first time in 5 months.

Might, just might do it again over the weekend.

Surprisingly warm out, and set to continue next week.

Knee injury means just a pottle to the pub on saturday and some pre-spring bike maintenance.

Aiming for a 100km of single speed mosh all over natural welsh stuff tomorrow, followed by a massive bloody cake..and a chilled out 4 hours or so super early Sunday morning to spin my legs out, whilst dreaming of my new frame which should finally be next week

Was going to do a quick road ride tomorrow morning but I tweaked my right knee landing a jump in the FOD this morning, had to cut that ride short as it was getting very sore 😥

Blast round the quantocks Sunday morning. Undecided on what to do Saturday, may try the local man made stuff at orchard portman/Wych lodge.

Couple of hrs on the road Saturday, probably a flatish spin to StAndrews.
Sunday is a group ride for NC500 charity group - they've been slacking with training big time, so a couple of stiff hills at the end of the ride may provide some entertainment 😈

Had a wee local mtb night ride with my 13 year old. Go and inspect the jumps him and his crew have been building all week then Beescarigs on monday before he goes back to school. Hopefully a longish CX ride tuesday before I go back to work on wednesday. Interspersed with loads of red wine obviously.

Something road from the door tomorrow. Got DOMS from last nights squats so might struggle going too far.

Something else Sunday.

Weather didn't quite make it to the promised double digits but was close. Started off windy with the odd spot of rain, finished with a nice tail wind and sun making a half hearted effort to poke through the clouds.
Legs felt pretty good, hopefully a sign training is going to plan.

Stitches in my hand are in exactly the wrong place for holding any type of handlebar. So tomorrow's planned road ride with a new local Facebook group is out the question. They'd even arranged a special group discount on scones at the café stop 🙁

But I have spent a productive day getting LittleMissMC's old Frog ready to sell on, and sourcing a couple of bits for her new one from some very nice people on here.

An expected 50k ride to/from and laps at Velopark to test/adjust my TT bike was painful yet enjoyable so was extended to 101k today.

Not so enjoyable was a bit through Walthamstow where fixed focus shopping seemed intent on walking or opening car doors blindly in the cycle lane. Luckily I'm still alive.

Wonderful 35 mile cross ride in the sun on the new bike to a friends for lunch with their kids. First ride of anywhere near this long for 6 months! Legs were shot. Caught the train to avoid the final climb! Great day.

Nice little lap of the caffal today, feel like I am getting a bit of speed back now after not riding very often for most of last year. Getting a yearning for another bouncy bike though, will borrow a demo bike from work and find out if I really want one before I ditch the HT.

First time out on the B+ tyres today! I have had 29" x 2.35" on since getting the bike, but have been meaning to try it as the designer intended with it's stock wheels and tyres on!

Just a little loop out from the house, over the tops to Bouth and back - simple South Lakes stuff - but I am not feeling hugely healthy or fit at the moment (resting heart rate has jumped up 10% this week!). The big tyres were draggy as hell on the road, slipped and slid all over the place on the mud and generally sapped my will to live.

Right up until the trail pointed down, and got rocky... and everything changed! Hugely entertaining!!!

That said - the 29ers will be back on tomorrow! It is a new route I have devised for trying to rebuild fitness and strength so I want to see how it feels on the other wheels, and then probably the hardtail later in the week.

Jet lagged and shaking off the remnants of a cold. But it was bloody lovely on the dartmoor today. Shorts and short sleeves until the sun started to drop.

[IMG] [/IMG]

And as the cherry on the cake, moved up from 5th to 2nd on one of my favourite downhills.

Took a trundle up the Spey from Fochabers then along the Moray Coastal Path to Lossiemouth (and back). Despite what the pictures show, the ride had a bit of everything: road, forest tracks, stones, sand and even some fun (and new to me) singletrack in the woods. All that plus sunshine and an ice cream from one of the best little ice cream parlours around, when I got back. Life is good 🙂

Positively tropical yesterday afternoon in Southampton for February, after work I did my longest ride with the most climbing of 2017 so far (~19 miles, ~1160 feet). https://www.strava.com/activities/870996704

Not quite as warm and a lot more overcast today, I'm struggling to wake up this morning despite quadruple heaped teaspoons of coffee in an oversized mug, still yet start my pre-ride ritual of staring at Google maps and coming up with a rough ride route involving plenty of hills to slay! 😈

London Bike Show yesterday (including saying hi to the guys from Singletrack and Hope Technology), and then 50km around Richmond Park and back this morning. This somehow included setting a new personal best lap time despite attending a friend's 30th birthday party last night...

A very snotty couple of hours round the Goyt this morning. Cool and the going was a bit wet, but pretty damned good for February

Turned out to be a solo ride up Rivington after a mate left behind his helmet & shoes - then promptly exploded his new bike's Q-Loc axle in a shower of springs, spacers and widgets all over the car park. At least I got to enjoy the view ...

Took the wife and kids out for a couple splashy laps of Hicks Lodge, which was fun and the cake is always good there!

The real star of the show was Jacob and his new bike! He loves it!

BillOddie - first time I've seen pics from Hicks Lodge on here!

We would have been there today if I hadn't tried to amputate my thumb with a billhook on Tuesday trying to lay hedges by the start of the Green route.

Im increasingly jealous of these fantastic pics of fun shaped bikes on lovely trails. Makes me want to give up racing and go back to social riding 😥

Just did 20 relatively flat km yesterday on the new Cube roadie yesterday as I had killer DOMS from Thursday squats session.

Did a bit further, 32km, on the roadie again today but in Saddleworth so not flat. There is a nasty right turn over three lanes on my way home which was full of traffic so decided to head through Oldham town centre as it is safer (!) this involved riding on the crappy new cycle lanes and getting a puncture from a massive piece of glass, about 3km from home. Annoying but decent ride, and my training is going ok for the BHF night ride (Manchester to Blackpool).
