It's that glorious time of the year when the trails are dry and the nettles and brambles are still at ankle height. So quick get out there before it rains and you get scratched to buggery by brambles. The sun is setting later and later and it's back to 8.45pm so it's getting better every day.

I've treated the Soul to a new BB and front mech and I'm out local tonight (Hanchurch most likely) and I've got a permission slip for all of Sunday morning (If I take the kids out all afternoon and pay for tea at the pub!) when I'm planning on going to Cannock bright and early.

Weather looks to be dry and sunny for most and better on Sunday than Saturday. Where you off?

Middle_OAB has DofE all weekend.
Eldest_OAB is at the Borders DH at Ae on Sunday, I will be[s] heckling [/s]marshalling.
Saturday is likely a nice big mountain, I am thinking Ben A'Ghlo... with the remaining two lads and mrs_oab - I can see me carrying three bikes...

greno woods tonight to check everything working on the bike after a full strip & rebuild - followed by chips and a couple of pints at the red lion. wharncliffe woods tomorrow followed by a couple of pints at the Pheasant. cutgate sunday followed by a couple of pints at the wagon & horses. sometimes I wonder why I never lose weight regardless of the amount of riding I do!

Getting dropped off in Hope tomorrow so I can cycle the rest of the way to sheffield. Using the vertebrate hope to sheffield route unless anyone has any better ideas?

Been a great week for cycling, I'm not working at the moment so I've been out every day this week. Scout Moor was lovely today.

A beautiful spin in the sun around mortimer forest this afternoon was cut short by a snapped chain, arse!
Local road ride tomorrow, Bromyard out to Malvern and back through the lanes, maybe with a stop for a pint half way......

I shall be doing the 50 mile route at the Fat Lad at the Back sportive from Ilkley out somewhere further north and back again.

Looking forward to seeing part of the country I don't get to very often and meeting some of my fellow Flambassadors in person. And the bacon butties at the start. And what looks like it might be a hog roast at the end. The riding a bike bit is just fluff, frankly!

Quick blast around local trails after work today.

Torridon was pretty average today.
The descents were actually a bit too dry and loose for my liking

Cracking afternoon exploring Friston forest today.

First ride on my new (to me) ti altitude & also my first ride with a dropper post. What a difference they both made.

[img] [/img]

With the other half away in london for a girly weekend, I'm in the rare position that I may well go back tomorrow for another ride!

Out late last night watching Maximo Park in brum and having to get the kids to swimming early this morning only leaves tomorrow for a lie in so 5 hours sleep last night up at 5:20 this morning for a quick blat around some select bits of cannock to be home for 7:30.

Back on flats today after sat weeks clipless experiment. Think I'm going to go with the clips for Scotland.

Very dry over the Chase this morning. Had a fair bit of drizzle today though so probably will be perfect for those going over tomorrow

Well first visit to inners didn't go according to plan, enjoying the XC climb and decent on a beautiful day but an over the bars result in the bike landing on me and the outer chainring puncturing my lip, and my nose took a battering.(big target) and my lovely new saddle might be borked as the rail pop out.

4 stitches on the outside and 2 on the inside.

2x are OOT, anyone wanna sell me a 1x set up that doesnt try and impale you.

Took the long way to the inlaws, made the 10km trip into a 75km run through the shire down to Marshbrook over Caer Caradoc then back along the Long Mynd. For some reason the bright sun of the week was replaced by persistent drizzle.

B+ is a bit of a drag on the roads.

@GRAEMEJONES tell me that's a fish eye lens otherwise your forks are borked!

Local hour today, tossing up whether to stick local tomorrow or negotiate the time to go and ride the doethie valley as I guess it will be ideal at the mo

First time at Queen Elizabeth country park today, very dry and loose and good fun. Signage could be a bit better, think I missed the start of the red but probably me being blind! A few walkers on one section but luckily a flat bit so no collisions, would definitely go back.

No pics, but that was most excellent.

Hurstwood, over to Cant Clough, The Hushings, PBW to The Ram, up past barky dog farm on the other side of the valley and back through Towneley Park.

Everyone said hello, even the horse riders.
🙂

What a belter of a day weatherwise. I can't compete with some of the spectacular pics on here but here's mine from the chase this morning, I didn't stop on the singletrack to take any pics. Great conditions, not too dusty and the sun was out. I was guided round some Offpiste on some great trails. Some just out of my skill set and comfort, but that's tremendous as I like to be challenged & progress.

Wasn't meant to be riding due to battered hand. No one tell the Physio eh? 🙂

Felt like the first day of summer. Early call but I'd be very happy with many more days like this..

Second ride of the weekend was another local jaunt. Taking it easy so as not to mess up me or the bike before next weekend away at BPW and Cwmcarn. Managed to snap a spoke on the last fireroad descent back into the village, don't have any spares...

@Kbrembo - Is that Jamie? 8)

Awesome weather and weekend, Costa Del Comrie Croft on Saturday with biggest_oab, mini_oab and mrs_oab, while middle_OAB was on Dofe. Warm, dry, dusty, rocky Comrie. 8)

Today spent worrying about eldest_OAB flinging himself down Ae Downhill trails, by marshalling the race. Amazingly slippy conditions due to a marble like covering of dust. Glad that eldest_OAB, who has Nat5 Exams this week, got down safely apart from a spectacular dismount at the finish jump - he ended up running over the line apparently with the bike, totally out of control....

The week also contained one more off the bucket list for me - Puffins!

Gorgeous day in the Lakes. Doesn't make pushing up Walna Scar any easier though.

The bad and the ugly, A&E yesterday pre-stitches, I look even worse today, doing my best elephant man impression.

Antur on Saturday; my first ride on a FS for months and I chose there. Ace fun on the blues and reds all morning then managed to mash chain, mech and hanger on the first run after lunch. Did 3 or 4 runs chainless but wasn't feeling it so called it a day.

Was at a campsite 40th birthday thing nearby that night and planned to ride xc somewhere nearby today, but no chain put paid to that.

Did the Fat Lad At the Back sportive out of Ilkley today. Stunning scenery in lovely sunshine, the most laid back and relaxed sportive I've done, and the most fantastic feed stop designed to ensure that their client base continues to expand, in all ways....

Didn't MTB this weekend, but enjoyed the sunshine doing 101 miles round Cheshire on my road bike.

Spent most of the sunny Saturday getting the new bike ready for its shake-down ride, so ended up having to ride under the clouds. Still good fun though. How could a new bike day be anything else. And nothing fell off, not even the rider 🙂
