Can't vouch for women's specific but my Madison trousers with zip off legs are really good and give you more options than just having shorts.

After my Madison packed in I bout the new Fox ones
Was pretty sceptical as they ain’t taped seems but they are pretty awesome and brilliant fit

I have some Madison ones:

They're ok, waterproof. Waist cinch straps are velcro though and designed to catch on any top you wear..
