Don't know if anyone can help?

Looking for a cable guide that I believe I saw on Ebay a year or two ago?

It was like a rubber grommet with a guide for the seatstay and stopped the cable rubbing the paint of the frame.

Think it was a custom item maybe made by someone maybe from here?

I had one on my  FlareMAX. It was a nice idea, but came apart after a couple of months, the seller - according to my purchase history, was called kajik123:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?ssPageName=&_ssn=kajik123

I suspect that's not much help. The item was listed as 'Gear Cable Guide for Cotic Rocket and Flare inc Max (Longshot)'

Looks/looked like:

https://www.shapeways.com/product/7ZWX58683/2017-cotic-rocket-seat-stay-gear-cable-cover

I don't know if it's the same guy, but maybe worth a message?

Thanks for that!

The user name doesn't seem to work in the search but can have a look at the other link.

Regards,

Max.

There’s a guy called Richard Gardiner who was selling some through the Facebook owners group a while back.

The link he was selling them through is dead now though so I’m not much help.

Sugru is good for this. You could mould a guide on cling film so it doesn't stick to the frame.

Or, as I did years ago, just stick it to the frame and wiggle a cable strap underneath to make a slot for one.  I made a hose guide in the middle of the top tube and it's coped with several years of gritty freezing rides and much sitting on the top tube without falling off 🙂

@baxy I skim-read that as "He's dead now though, so not much help"..

@turnerfan1 they are available still from here for £6 but the website is temporarily down: https://www.thewidgetarium.co.uk/shop

Thanks,
I did see the widget site and saw the UK version was down.

The USA one is still showing but don't know about importing such a small item?

Have tried the 3d printing site that the original was on without much luck.

Regards,

Max.

Seems like something Cotic should ideally be including and selling?

Give me a couple of weeks to finish exams/projects and I'll have a go at making a CAD model and sticking it up on Thingiverse for your home-printing pleasure (if I remember). I don't have a 3D printer, so can't really test it, mind.

Yeah, I thought that. It was a very neat addition while it lasted. I guess the downside is that it blocks rapid access to the lower shock-pivot mount bolt, but a proper moulded item could probably be popped out easily enough and slid out of the way.

Fun little item. It was talked about at Cotic years ago, and ultimately we put it in the “unnecessary plastic” bucket at a time we were nagging suppliers to reduce the amount of plastic bits they supplied us.

My frame came with a soft rubber jagwire sleeve that slides over the outer which sits at the point where it rests against the frame. Also stuck a small frame protection patch on it and it's been fine. That solution looks like it would allow water in but not out.

I stumbled across the guy's shop and remembered this thread. As per my earlier post, the one I bought from him on eBay actually kind of delaminated after around a year, but there now seems to be an updated Nylon version, which I guess may be more durable. Or of course, I may just have been unlucky. Anyway, here's the link:

Edit: I found the original one was easy to simply pop out after wet rides for drying.

Thanks guys.

I joined the Cotic owners club on Facebook last week and there was a link.

I have ordered one so will see how it goes!

Thanks again!

Max.

Thread resurrection here - all the links in this thread are dead, is anyone aware of where I can pick something like this up? I'm not on Facebook. I noticed today that the paint has worn off where the cable rubs on my flaremax
