Just got a set of the 4 piston Shimano brakes to replace the original ones on my Fathom E+. Rear is internally routed and goes round/ behind the motor. Any issues with just replacing the caliper and lever and reusing the original hose? OK to use the same olives?
Will clearly need to bleed the system afterwards.
No reason not to reuse the same hose ... (or levers if they are shimano)
No way to say if the olive is reusable or not without seeing it.
Either way they are £5.50 for a 10 pack so assuming you have enough hose left to cut off 10mm why risk it?
If they are unfilled 4 pots it will be a FULL bleed...
Thats what I'd do.
I did similar.
Assuming its Shimno to Shimano? Check and double check the banjo at the caliper end is the same style / entry point. Also - you may need extra cable.
For olives - there should be no change. But the cable inserts depend on what model / cable type you currently have.
The 4 piston calipers need a different banjo bolt. It is always best to use a fresh olive.
Thanks for the replies. Old brakes are MT200 levers and new ones MT401 so visually very similar.
I have the fresh olives and inserts and can get away with slightly shorten the hose if needed.
