Just got a turbo trainer, using my hardtail with slick tyre at the minute. Is it worth buying a cheap second hand road bike to leave in there all the time, and if i find an old bike, does it need to have a QR Skewer to fit. Does it make any difference what bike you use, as long as it's comfortable?

I've used an old MTB with one of the orange conti turbo tyres on in the past, but now use an old road bike with a standard road tyre on. Kills tyres after a bit. The QR that comes with the turbo should fit any normal bike really.

Use whatever suits you really.

Worth understanding what you're trying to get out of your turbo sessions so that it doesn't end up unused (like most people's seem to!)

🙂

Doesn't have to be QR, Tacx do some axle nuts that'll do the job.
