I noticed recently that quite a few wheel builders are offering wheels with 2:1 (aka Triplet) lacing for rim brake wheels - e.g. 8 spokes NDS, and 16 spokes DS.
Does this actually make for a better (whatever that means) wheel?
I'm just about to build up a 24 spoke wheel, but since the rim is a regular rim and I can't find any 2:1 hubs for sale, the decision is already made as far as this one is concerned.

It evens out tension better. Not something that I'd go out of my way to do (or avoid).
