How many dents have you collected on your downtube? It's made of flippin paper mâché! Collected third today nicely flattening the contour of the tube. It's all fairly near to the BB so I'm fairly sure the strength won't be affected but I've never collected so many dents on a bike before... Needs the equivalent of a sump guard!

Non, I don't think, it's on loan at the moment so can't check

The new remedy's come with a carbon armour downtube protector in reaction to this issue - not sure if its available aftermarket to fit to older ones but maybe worth looking into mate.

Yeah I saw a pic of one thinking about it, may well see if it's possible to get one

What sort of riding around your local area? It's a lot of loose rocky stuff here which doesn't help!

One fairly big one on the bend as it sweeps up from the BB (Fuel EX9). Had wondered why the crud catcher mounts seemed so low, now I think I know why...

Well I can't find any aftermarket guards so I guess I'll just ride it til the bugger bends in half

Hope I've not missed the joke but they're bottle cage mounts. If I had, flame away.

They are on the underside of the downtube, there are some on top as well, I came to the conclusion that they would be no good at all for a bottle (a gibbon would struggle to reach) so concluded they were crud catcher mounts. Absolutely nothing to back that up at all though 🙂

That's a damn impressive dent! Do you ride a lot of downhill in very rocky area?

No dents on my Ex8. Although I run a crud catcher most to the year round.

Few dents on my and a mate's Remedys. Though thankfully nothing like that pic above. I've ziptied a bit of tyre on there to prevent any more. Looks hardcore 🙂

Ouch! Mine is lower and completely on the flat, stops just before the edges of the downtube so not nearly as [s]worrying[/s] impressive as that 🙂

It's not mine, just a google search when I was looking for anywhere that sells guards. Mine aren't quite as bad as that!

Been riding my Remedy on all kinds of terrain and regularly hear rocks bouncing off the downtube, but don't have any dents yet!
