I'm after a turbo trainer mat. They seem to go from about £40 - £60 which seems a bit steep. What's the difference between them and a yoga mat? Are they worth the extra?

Posh ones damp vibrations, so much quieter.

Rubber gym or industrial matting on ebay - yoga mats are usually only 3-5mm

I've been thinking the same as the OP.

My setup is in a carpeted room with a concrete floor - so protecting the carpet from sweat and jr mat being easily wipeable seems more critical than damping or being slip-free.

Those halfords interlocking tiles look good but don't they get sweat between them so hard to clean?

No.
Just wipe with a damp cloth.

I've just got this Giant mat for £23 - good value, comes with straps and a bag so packing away is easy :- Winstanleys Giant Mat

I'm quite tempted by this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Viavito-Unisex-Equipment-Floor-Black/dp/B01D96G9W4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481486107&sr=8-2&keywords=viavito

but the small is a bit too small and the large too expensive and too big!

ive got a cycleops one, cant remember what i paid but it wouldnt have been silly cash. if you have the bike up all the time, wish i still could, i think its a good call for catching all the sweat.

Also got the cycleops one, but it came bundled with trainer years back. Wouldn't pay what they are asking for them now.
