Afternoon....
Ive borrowd a torque wrench from a friend for the up comming rebuild of the chameleon so I dont over tighten anything.
I looked at the pedros bit set on crc but the reviews are not great.
Can anyone recomend a good and not too expensive alternative?
Cheers

I used these without any problems. £5 postage, so best ordered with other stuff

Yep,something non-bike branded. Clarke (Machine Mart) do a decent set that I've been using for about a decade. Halfords Pro is pretty nice but more expensive (Halfords sell them individually so you can pick just the few sizes that you care about) Or, you could buy a suitable adaptor to let you use screwdriver bits with the wrench, though that can be fiddly.

Personally I almost never take a torque wrench to my bike but then I have calibrated torquefingers. Will his wrench cover the values you're using? Bike components can go to very low torques.

Is the torque wrench 1/4" or 3/8"?

Screwfix do a decent 3/8 set for about a £10.

Remember some torque wrenches dont work on reverse threads.

If you use normal allen keys and do everything up by hand (no hammers, levers, bits of extension tube etc) then you won't over-tighten anything IMO.

Cheers people...
Stevie750.... Bugger just put in a rise order for my brakes!
Northwind....it goes down to 5 lbs/ft so should do
Couldashoulda..... Its a 1/4 in one but have got a reducer. Pkus I dont think I have any reverse threads I need doing
Nickjb... I kinda figured that.... But the tool tart in me just wants to play! Plus I do actually need some new hex bits as the ones I have are about 40 years old!
Cheers

That's higher than some bike bolts- but also a lot of torque wrenches lose their accuracy at the end of their ranges. What tool is it?

Halfords pro. If is not gonna work then i'll just use normal allen keys and be gentle

That'd be my advice personally. I've a Halfords Pro wrench and it's a really good bit of kit but it'll be operating right at its margins for some parts.
