For me it has to be freehub engagement. I could not care less about it. I've had Chris King hubs, DT 240's, crossmax etc and I couldn't tell a blind bit of difference to cheaper 'slower to engage' hubs. Not once have I ever used a bike and thought 'I wish this hub would engage quicker'...

Any bike related apathy?

+1 on freehub engagement

- what cars people are driving to trail centres
- what bikes people are riding at trail centres (or elsewhere)
- Suspension tuning
- 'plus' sized bikes

DH racing,
I'll have an idle watch if it's right in front of me or if there was a local race I was able to ride a bike to and stand and watch for nowt, but I have no desire to do it myself and I'm kinda cynical about the 'no skinsuit' rule and that you can break a chain at the top of the race, get to the bottom and still be on a podium ? I don't doubt the skills of the competitors but...

[flamesuit on]

Now that does interest me and is worthy of a thread 🙂

Bike related:

-Marketing machine led brands. 5 teams in the TdF or 7 consecutive TdF wins does not mean your bikes are the best, it just means you paid the most money for those athletes to be on your bikes.
-People moaning about the lack of good LBS' but they buy everything online. Not saying you should support crap ones, but there are plenty of good ones out there so wander in, strike up a conversation with the guys in there, you might be pleasantly surprised! (FWIW know of 5 shops within a 20 mile radius of myself all in various stages of closing down for one reason or another right now)
-Strava evangelists. Everything's not a race (unless it is a race), Strava is supposed to be a bit of fun so don't let it ruin a ride.
-Strava haters. It's supposed to be a bit of fun, don't spend the whole ride going on about how you're "keeping it real" cos you came off Strava (probably cos you lost your one KOM) and everyone who uses it is a sheep.
-Funny shaped handlebars. Have tried them on other peoples bikes with an open mind. Felt no benefits whatsoever, in fact discovered many drawbacks. Almost certainly an attention seeking thing.
-Fat Bikes + Plus sized tyres. Happy to accept that they work well for some people on their trails for their riding, but they're not for me.
-Go Pro's. Like it or not, everything looks flat/boring when you view the video back on your computer, and non MTBers will just laugh at you.

Other peoples cars choice, other peoples opinions of other peoples car choice.

Fat Bikes, 29ers, Fixies, Plus Bikes and Road Bikes.

Football.

Immigration, Immigrants, Migrants and Refugees, I used to care, deeply - but the right wing, daily fail, full of opinion but light on facts, thickos dragged me into arguing with their foolishness and the best I can muster now is apathy.

UK 'Reality' shows, any and all of them.

Downton Abbey.

UKIP and The Lib Dems, yesterdays news, todays chip wrappers, tomorrows who?

Adele.

Miley Cirus.

Comics, Films about Comics, Stan Lee, anyone else involved in that bubble of a genre.

The 2015 Formula One Drivers Championship.

Golf, Cricket, Tennis, Darts, Snooker, Indoor or Outdoor Bowls.

Car Boot Sales, Fairs or Fayres, Donkey Derbies or Village Fates.

The price of tea in China.

The Kardashians or anyone else form the Planet Kardashia.

HP Gen 9 Servers, their performance advantages v their increased cost.

DDR4 RAM in general.

Russell Brand or any of his self-serving, egotistical ranting - same goes for you Tim Minchin, you utter socket.

Christmas.

American Guns Culture, if you can't learn for yourselves, the rest of the world isn't going to convince you.

Australian Economic Problems - get over yourselves, you've rode the wave of a boom for decades and it's come to a gentle stop, that's not a problem, it's a bloody miracle. And you Canada.

BuzzFeed, you're the left-wing version of the Daily Fail, offended by everything and not to concerned about facts or balanced reporting.

Perez Hilton.

'Natural' Trails.

Craft Beer evangelists - stop being a ****ing cliché.

Tea and Coffee, it's horrible, stop looking at me like I'm the anti-Christ when I politely turn down your offer to spend 15 mins doing a domestic science experiment to create something either boring (tea) or tastes like burnt arseholes (coffee).

Boris Johnson.

New Top Gear, Old Top Gear and Amazon Gear.

LinkedIn.

Mr Ten Thousand Post Counts opinion that Social Media is rubbish and only for the stupid.

CandyCrush.

Nostalgia

Howies Early Bird Discounts, Howies Mid-Season Discounts, Howies end of season Discounts - you've become the DFS of clothing retailers and amazingly become MORE corporate since you split from Timberland.

The five mile top tube bridge to insist a industry of thousand of experts is wrong and everyone over 5' 4" needs an XXXL frame these days.

Evil Bikes, you over promisers you.

The opinions (and increasingly the company) of people who are idiots*.

*This tends to cover most people particularly those who read tabloid press, watch soaps or celeb reality TV. Those who are rude, selfish, religious, racist (closet or not) or those who ride a 29er.

I'm getting older and feeling older by the day, this list could be extensive.. I'll keep it High Level then 😆

Cars other people drive/own, this gets a "like Whatev's" from me. 🙄
Houses other people live in/own/rent/squat, this gets a "Annnnndddd??" from me 🙄
Children other people have/want to have/shouldn't have had, this annoys me quite a lot.. I'm really actually not bothered at ALL what your kids are like nor what they are into/upto and certainly not bothered about all the problems you are having with them 🙄
TV Soap Operas, whilst I'm happy for them to be on TV for the only reason it keeps the less interesting of our society occupied. 😛
Kids TV, well let me qualify that, angsty/moronish/fighty/quasi Transformers crap. Bring back Disney - forget the rest. 🙄
Security Guards, specifically those who pretend to have more power than they actually have 🙄
Wheel sizes on bikes, I sooooooooooo don't GAS about this.
Helmets on bikes, where them, don't wear them.. my choice/your choice. Go stick your finger up your nose for all I care about your POV. 🙄
Ignorant people, there are a lot in our society today, not sure if this is a generalisation or whether this has always been in our society.. But ignorance really cheeses me off. 👿
People who don't listen, or talk over the top of me/you who have been asked a question and are unable to explain due to someone interjecting or overriding right over the top of someone whose endeavoring to explain something.

There are quite a lot more, but clearly I'm clogging the internet up ATM.

DH racing,

I kind of agree that it's not as good as it *should* be to watch, however I watched Red Bull Hardline and it was well worth the watch. Even my wife loved watching it. I imagine having only 8 competitors helped.

Edit- and in keeping with the OP, I don't really care about

NEW!!! coil sprung enduro bikes
NEW!!! air sprung DH bikes
LES (lightweight, expensive, unreliable) kit in general

Increasingly this forum and it's boring, meaningless subject matter constantly under the heading 'have we done (insert dull unimportant trivial issue) yet', like a bunch of washer women Nora Battys.

There used to be a good sprinkling of gems in and amongst the turd. Now it's like browsing on Soundcloud for a good tune.

This and anyone called Jeremy

Road bikes and all the other bikes that i see on here that are like road bikes but a teenie, tiny bit different. Oh look a road bike with tyres that have some grip. Oh look a road bike that has mudguards. Oh looks a road bike with different bars...

If people could maybe label their threads that contain these types of bikes with a [not for euro] in the title i'd be very grateful.
