Rode around if for a fair while today, quite enjoyed it apart from the back killing bumps evereywhere.

Nonetheless, did a few runs of "the beast" and it's parallel tracks and wanted to record them so we adapted a hope vision headmount adaptor with string and duct tape and voila my canon S90 becomes a headcam. Quite impressed by the result, can be viewed on [url=

(might be processing still) and pinkbike (no wait)

So just wondering is there any real technique for these constant bump / pit things or is it just down to "core strength"? i found i really struggled with them and got back pains after a short while?

Quite a lot of them you can pump, really annoys a couple of mates as I can accellerate away from them without pedalling.
Realistically stand on the pedals and try to keep you head level by pushing the bike down on the back slopes and pull it up slightly on the up slopes.
If you don't like the rutted stuff head over to the brandon side and look for little trails into the trees, there is some good stuff around

ah thanks, i did try pumping them some of the time, just seemed to agitate my back more (which is strange as i never have any issues on pump tracks). sort of resorted to pedalling sitting right on the back of the saddle.

Looked nice out there today. When you got to the bottom of "The Beast" you should have ridden across the road onto Brandon side and found some nice singletrack there.
Maybe next time?

Pumping is the key - also you will need different gearing for different sets as some are closer together than others - in order to get them to flow. 🙂
