Due for BC renewal just for insurance purposes really, I don't go to events or race, I used to like the old cycle touring mags you got with ctc but its now cycling uk so don't know what the deal is there, any better than the other ta

We switched from BC to CUK a year or so ago, again, for the insurance. The mag is fairly decent to be honest, plus there's some reasonable discounts too.

I was a member of British Cycling for well over a decade, but discounts are worth nothing now, and constant emails with surveys in, but little seemed to change, seems to now be there for racers only.

Whereas been impressed with CUK with routes like King Alfreds Way, seem to be listening to actual every day cyclists, so i made the switch too

I found BC legal cover was geared more towards an insurance claim closer to what a kinda no-win/no-fee solicitor would do. I didnt get the feeling it'd work that well without having a payday in sight.

Cycling UK do a massive amount of work for cycle campaigning - in Westminster, devolved parliaments and at local level.

I am a local rep annoying the crap out of the local council pushing for improved facilities - and have attended many workshops and seminars over the years, all put on by Cycling UK.

I'm with CUK as I think they campaign for issues closer to my heart, and I don't race.

Their legal cover was very useful when I was injured on an accident that was not my fault.

CUK do a lot for everyday cycling and the future of bike use generally and recent route development wok has been impressive. Enjoyed a trip round KAW last year and they have more planned.

Consider supporting Sustrans too? They might not be directly of interest for all of us but safe routes to schools and local transport options are worth a lot for others and they have some cracking routes if you're touring around the UK.

(If 20-ish year old me could read this..!)

I was a long term BC member - race promoter, Commissaire, part of the organising team for a UCI cat road race, volunteer, etc.
I found that there was an unpleasant culture in BC which I ended up on the brunt end of so I stopped being a member and stopped doing any of the other stuff as it just wasn't fun in any way.
I'm now a CUK member and just do the cycling I like doing and don't worry or particularly get involved in with other people.
