Happy New year etc...
Can anyone tell me. Is there any difference between the cranks in this set up and a 1x xt crank? I'm theory could I just by a 1x chainring?

I think you can just add a single ring but someone may correct me. I have the 2x11 xt set up and looked into going 1x11 a while back (but never did). My research at the time indicated i could just change the chain ring.

both my 1x11 XT M8000 cranks have the bolt holes for a granny ring
unless it's changed, the 1x and 2x cranks are the same - the only difference is which rings are installed
