Hi all,
I ride for a tandem club charity that takes blind stokers out every Sunday. We are desperately short of pilots as we need about four times as many pilots as stokers.
The club rides out every Sunday for a fairly easy 50 miles or so with a good lunch stop, starting at 9:30 & finish about 14:30. The base is in Tottington, just north of Bury, Greater Manchester.
I personally ride just once per rota, so one in every 5 weeks.
If you think you might be interested please contact me direct or via the club website or search for us on facebook.

Any new pilots will be assessed & trained so don't let the tandem thing put you off.

Good luck getting volunteers.
Friend used to pilot for blind stokers and said it was absolutely brilliant fun.
I'll pop this on our club page, may be a bit far (Huddersfield) but no harm in asking.
I'm tempted, I'm about an hour away (probably lesson a Sunday morning) which is doable.
I last rode with the tandem club in Bury 18yrs ago. Did plenty of rides with them over a few years prior. Piloted the triple when needed of the time with Janine and Derek behind me.
Maybe I should rejoin? Work shifts got in the way but maybe i should try for 1 ride a month?
I think I can remember most of the routes?!
@IHN I ride in, but a mere 25 minutes for me but makes for a better day. Getting back on my own bike after is wierd though.
@retrorick, I suspect not too much has changed. Derek still on the back of the triple!
I'd love to pilot the triple but not been trusted with it yet.
I doubt they'd let me back on the triple 🤔. I've lost a fair bit of my arm and shoulder strength which seemed to be key to steering the bike.
I might turn up one Sunday morning and tag along at a distance on my bike. To see if I can go the distance. It's been a while since I've done a decent road ride and I'd need to make sure my backside is up for 50 miles sat down 😂.
I have removed my road bike from the turbo trainer and re assembled it.
I will attempt to turn up this weekend or in 2 weeks time for a solo ride along.
