Technology which has been round for years, shows you how easy it is to register a patent, where there is no original thinking, just a change of application.
After the Slik graphics debacle, Fox are still at it.
Wasn't the Slik Graphics 'debacle' just Fox actively defending their trademark, which you have to be seen to do occasionally? In the future your failure to act on minor infringements will harm your defence if someone tries to seriously rip you off.
Did Slik ever have to hand over any cash or did Fox drop it?
I am not a lawyer.
No idea about the forks.
After the Slik graphics debacle
Didn't that hinge on fair use though?
A shop is allowed to put the Fox logo all over their shop if they sell Fox stuff, and reviewers can put the logo in their articles, etc, and that's fair use.
Silk were selling a product that competed with Fox and used their trademarks. Seemed a fairly reasonable argument that they shouldn't be allowed to as Fox do sell replacement stickers.
Silk graphics still sell FOX decals
Ive got a set on the way to me this week
Tou can only file for a patent on previously known tech in the US. Not in Europe
Wonder if Sram were unaware of the patent (unlikely), or just thought "screw it" and took the chance?
Looks like Slik and fox came to an agreement.
We are proud to be working with Fox Factory and we do everything possible to ensure the quality of these products and our service meets and exceeds your expectations as a Fox customer.
Fox licensed their logo to slik, I hear the cost was not low.
One of the projects I worked on was hampered by a US pantent for the use of a dowel/location pin on a particular style of vehicle brake mount.
Yep, Slik and Fox came to an agreement, believe Slik are now the only company to legally be allowed to produce decals with the Fox logo.
