So my mate is coming up from London and I am keen to get him to see the (MTB) light.
Nedd to hire a bike for him and want to do a ride that's good enough to not make me fall asleep but also not too challenging for him.
Would claife heights be too much?

My first thought was Claife 🙂 I take beginners there all the time and they love it!

How long would claiffe take. Are there any technical bits to keep it interesting?

as long as you like! Yes, plenty of interesting rocky bits, particularly the DH to Colthouse and The Cobbles which descend to Belle Grange on the west shore of Windermere - lunatic in the wet 🙂 The FP route along the ridge from above Far Sawrey to The Cobbles is also very technical
