Thinking about buying a 2004 foes the fly for £800, swapping the bits from my (small) marin quake across to the (medium) foes frame and vice versa and selling the quake...
Is this a silly idea? Quake only gets used for downhilling these days. I'm also 5ft 8"
spec of the foes:
Van RC Shock, 2008 Marz 66's, saints cranks & BB, avid code front and juicy 7 rear. Funn full on bar & stem, wheels - halo somethings.
spec of quake:
07 dhx 5 air shock, 09 RS totem coil, holzfeller cranks, hope V2 brakes, truativ bars, thomson stem, wheels - ex721 rear and ex325 on hope pro II hubs...
what are you going to gain?
ditto?
I'd say the quake had the better build already.
No i'd plan on swapping the bits across to have the best build.
ie, totems, van coil shock, hope brakes and wheels maybe saints cranks. Funn full on bars
swapping the bits from my (small) marin quake across to the (medium) foes frame
is it a better frame despite the age?
its a dh/fr frame as is the quake - you hardly ride the quake, you'll hardly ride the Fly? Doesnt seem worth the bother. Plus with the older bits on you will lucky to get £700 for the Quake so its costing you to change for change sake.
sorry, miss read it.
Would seem like change for change's sake, maybe try selling the quake frame, then buying the foes, then selling th ebits you don't want sepperately, more money to be made that way anyway.
plus the old fly is FUGLY!
