Probably the best place for parking van or car is the link road between Rothay Bridge to Rydal (check out my map on page 1)It turns left off the A593 before the river,This will be the road from the last trail of the day.

You can park near to the top of the map Marked FB (foot bridge)Or an alternative if you require toilets could be the one north of Ambleside oposite the Kirkstone pass junction,(pay and display)also handy for Biketreks.

Give us a clue to what route your have in mind?

Out and along the Lake side, over to Near Sawrey, along to Far Sawrey and up Claife, down to Hawkshead for coffee. Then along to Iron Keld, Tilberthwaite/Langdale and Loughrigg to finish. Hows that for a route??

GaVgAs - The only "extreme" thing about KMB Tuesday night riders is the amount of time spent in the pub compared with time on the bike!
We may send a group down to scratch their chins and whinge about the route choice though ❗

Well yes.Its all in there, but not neceserlly in that order!..and I will be adding quite a bit.

I do tend to make the route up as the day develops, but I also like to do trails in the right direction,The MBR lakes route does Iron Keld in reverse! 😯

I will be a no show I am afraid, I've been to the Physio this evening from an ongoing issue which I thought might have been a knee problem but luckily at lest I think luckily, I have tendonitis in one of my thigh muscles, so had some ultrasound treatment and need to rest it only doing light exercise, I did ask but she felt that 20 miles in the Lakes didn't fit that. 🙁

I'll be back though it needs sorting as the pain has been stopping me sleeping some nights but fixing it will be ace and am looking forward to getting back to full strength 🙂

Have fun on the trails and post some pictures so I can see what I missed.

Tony & co - I'm planning on getting over for this one, confrimation on Saturday as I'm hoping a friend of mine can come as well.

Think the meeting point may be mobbed with cars so will probably park in town and ride to it. Is it possible to have a contact phone number in case of getting lost or running a smidge late ??

Also, i can't seem to view the map link with the meeting point shown, could someone re-post it please.

Cheers.

Steel..

Meeting point here :-
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=336545&y=503335&z=115&sv=336545,503335&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=839&ax=336545&ay=503335&lm=0

It is a fairly small car park.

However, unless your going to be early then I would suggest parking here :-

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=337100&y=504172&z=115&sv=337100,504172&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=839&ax=337100&ay=504172&lm=0

Plenty of spaces along the side of the river.

Feeling dog rough today, starting with a cold I think.

Lowey I have a postcode that should be very cloase to that second suggestion, the riverside parking, that should help those of us relying on Sat Nav - LA22 9LJ.

Bit last minute but can anyone suggest any decent bike freindly b&b's in or near Ambleside for Saturday night? Just found out the one I usually go to (Meadowbank -highly recommended by the way) is closed and YHA Ambleside is too. Secure bike storage prefferable. I know there's loads in Ambleside but a few names would help. Hope to see you all on sunday.

The trails there take the rain well. It'll be fine and no need for special mud tyres.

There will be Lots of rock and very little mud,I think the ice and snow will have all gone, there are some washed out bits though,Iron Keld has taken a beating after the recent floods. 😥

As ton says in the first post it will be cold so bring plenty of gear,A warm drink might be a good idea as well,I do anticipate a few punctures and stops. 😉

38 riders, 21 miles, 5ish hours (I think), 728 photos, of which only about half were of the gorgeous clareymorris :o) Only 5 punctures, and about the same number of mechanicals. A great day out, mild with some sunshine and no rain!

4 Bog Trotters braved and rode the ford at Little Langdale while the other tarts (of both sexes) looked on in awe or horror 🙂

biggest dissappointment of the day was the absence of the taut-thighed FoxyChick, though her toy boy Paul did attend 🙂 [and she did come to the caff afterwards] Tony blew my cover when I was innocently quizzing Jaquie by saying "You know when old men offer sweeties to schoolgirls? Well, that's Barnes with you!" 🙁

cracking day out, good to be back on proper hills. Big thanks to the organisers who for some reason may not want to be named 🙂 Was a long day but that's the nature of popular rides, not down to the speed of the slowest rider so stop being so apologetic teeto (and no im not suggesting you were the slowest)

Cracking ride - I think everyone just enjoyed being out properly after all the weeks of snow!

Great to meet some of the STW'ers and a big high 5 to "man in Ciclo Montana shirt" (sorry forgot your name) for for duck tape and ingenious seatpost fixing idea. It didn't move 1 mm 😀

in explanation, Clare's Hope seat post clamp broke, so she used her bar lamp clamp with copious amounts of gaffer tape as fitted by Matt, both to stop it slipping and to prevent the whole lot rotating 🙂

edit: and it was unkind of me to suggest it was the size of her (delightful) arse what done it :o)
