Can any1 recommend a good place to stop with kids/dog on way to Morzine from Calais.

ideally around midway, for a couple hours not to much of a detour/park/open space .

Cheers

We occasionally stop at the old f1 track in Reims. It's only a few mins off the motorway. Quite interesting to walk around. The old pit lane and commentary box are accessible and they are doing some renovations. Big grass area for the dog. Not much else there but we'll worth a visit if you have any interest in cars. Good place for a picnic. There's supermarkets and fast food at the motorway junction if you need food. Last time we were there a rally was using it as a meeting point and it was full of interesting cars

We've gone for a hotel in Saint Quentin this year.

Foret d'Orient (a French 'Parc Naturel') is pretty much half way and just off the motorway.

If you want something simpler, some of the service stations and aires are bigger than you might expect.

Agreed - Foret d’Orient is good for a stop.

We always used to overnight in Troyes. Nice compact centre for food and loads of Ibis style hotels.

Some interesting WW1 museums and things to the east of Challons-en-Champagne.

We stopped here in Dijon a fortnight ago, very basic but it served a purpose as an overnight to break the journey up, had secure card park as well. comfortable bed, small bathroom which was like a self contained unit.
Had dinner in the hotel next door, and they did a basic breakfast in the hotel for about €6 per person, cereals/toast/pastries & self serve drinks

Sorry for the tardy response, no we forgot to get the air sticker this year
This hotel was about 5 mins off the motorway on the edge of an industrial estate. Not the most glamorous of places but it served a purpose for one night

We always stop in Troyes too. Hotels on the outskirts are basic but clean and decent parking not far the motorway and a few supermarket to restock on route.

If your not looking to stay the night there is nice lake just outside Dijon and next to the motorway which is ideal for the kids and dog.
