Had an off on the Steel City DH this morning, front wheel washed out and I went head on into a tree. My shoulder took the full force and as I fell in a heap to the floor my foot didn't release from my pedal, trapping my calf against the frame. Could have cried and felt really sick. After gathering myself I was able to limp down the hill and free wheel, one handed, to Chapeltown where someone picked me up. Good job I had my phone with me, had visions of being stranded in the woods. Anyway, after getting x-rayed at A&E there were thankfully no broken bones! Off work for a couple of days with a very painful shoulder.

What's the course like? Is it worth a trip if you're not local?

I ride a Cotic Soul, the course is good but very rocky. Better on a full sus I think, and quicker probably.
