Primera had a Cannondale SuperSix Evo (the new one) for £1999 as well (black only), seems like it might be a good winter for bargain hunting if you like dull colors at least!
Nobody buy one till my cycle to work voucher is approved. 🙂
Haha, I'm asking Halfords if they'll price match it so I can do the same ..........
Dammit the 58 has disappeared from Trendz. I hate our cycle scheme.
Wheelbase also have a 40% off on deal on the Cervelo Caledonia Ultegra di2, most sizes in stock. I very nearly pressed the button, but cannot justify, even as a blingy 'winter' road bike... I already have a heavily upgraded Synapse with Ultegra 12 di2...

I didn't realise there was still such a tax on Cervelos. £3.3k is still a hard sell with crap wheels, alloy finishing kit and external cabling.
Typically the 52cm SL7 hasn't got quite the same discount applied, still good value though.
Merlin have a lot of discounted road bikes too (over 60% of some Felts).

Is it though? I mean, it’s a decent price for a carbon framed, 105 equipped, road bike, but the RRP was way over the top.
My 'retro' (aluminum obviously) Cannondale 20 years ago originally came with Tiagra / Sora and was ~£900 (which the inflation calculator says is £1600). And even a decade+ ago before the £:$ collapsed, the shimano factory fires and Brexit most magazine reviews were pitting £2000 alloy bikes with Ultegra against carbon with 105 (both with rim brakes obviously).
105 these days seems to start at £2400 for the online only brands like Canyon unless you find something heavily discounted.
£3k+ at RRP was probably optimistic of them, but most shops selling them ~£2500 seems to have been about average for a big-brand aero-ish carbon race bike from an actual physical shop.
^ fair enough
I've just taken a 2008 issue of ProCycling magazine off my shelf.
(a) Wow - it's only got about 10 adverts in the whole thing!
(b) RRP on a Bianchi B4P carbon with Ultegra was £1999.99, ditto for a carbon Felt F3 with Ultegra SL (both appear to have Aksiums, but might be Ksyriums).
(c) Specialized Allez sport alu with 105 was only RRP £699.99, so your Cannondale was probably a bit of a premium choice TINAS (and quite right given how nice CAAD frames still are).
FWIW if it impacts anyone else, I asked and Trends (Halfords) will price match what they have in stock with the £19.99 deliver fee.
I've asked to see if they can find a 58 down the back of a sofa or with the supplier....

It is a very nice ride, I occasionally demo something new and TBH nothing's ever felt like it justified the superlatives and hyperbole of two decades of magazine reviews ?. But I wouldn't mind some disk brakes and wider tyres these days.
Specialized Allez sport alu with 105 was only RRP £699.99
Given Spesh's habbit of putting a fancy mech on a cheaper bike at all price points it's probably not too dissimilar ?
Was that with cycle to work as well?
Yep (Trendz are Halfords so they can't really complain that 'they' charge a comission!).
Tredz said no when I asked if they’d match it…
Hmmm, same size and colour in stock at both?
I'm kinda hoping that they'll decide that if Spesh-UK are selling them to shops at a price that's profitable for Evans then ordering in a 58 for me is easy money even if the margins are low.
I could squeeze onto a 56 (I have done for 20 years) but I've got stubby legs and a long torso so really should size up now that sloping top tubes are more common.
An Ultegra groupset cost me £334 in February 2009. It was pretty unsophisticated in modern terms though, with gear cables out the sides of the brifters, let alone disc brakes or electronic shifting.
Managed to get it done through evans before it sold out! £1372 over 12 months, can't complain.
26mm tyres, you'll certainly be awake by the time you have ridden it to work in the morning !
58's are apparently sold out with Spesh-UK so no deal for me

Would be fine for me on the road.
Not all of us commute via the nearest MTB trail, once a week, on a Saturday morning, and back to our home office because we wouldn't trust our nice MTB locked up at the actual office.

Yes.....to the office......
I asked Tredz to price match. They said they couldn’t as £1649 was less than they buy them for! And they aren’t exactly a small outfit!
The Ridley slic was nicer, full ultegra and £500 cheaper. That was a bargain for those that got one. This is a solid price. I built a rim road bike for about £750 with 105 when it was on offer as it was being sold off for £299.
Couldn’t resist at that price. Won’t be ridden until next year. Had a look in the local Specialized store and the carbon clear coat finish looks stunning. No sign of dispatch yet though so will be believe it when I see it turn up

@winrya I had a dispatch email this morning via DX. The tracking isn't showing anything yet but the confirmation from Evans said latest expected Tuesday.
I was the same, for the rice I couldn't pass up. Mine won't be ridden much until next year as well.
@winrya I had a dispatch email this morning via DX. The tracking isn’t showing anything yet but the confirmation from Evans said latest expected Tuesday.
when did you place your order? I was on the fence until Wednesday evening when I finally gave in ?
Says Tuesday latest for me so fingers crossed it does arrive. Some hunt carbon wheels in Black Friday sale and it’s should make a great summer bike
Yours arrived yet? Mine was dispatched Sunday am with delivery by Tuesday but still can’t track and hasn’t arrived ?
@winrya No, was due today. DX link says they don't have it yet. Chased with Evans but said they take a few days to get me an answer. I did see someone on HUKD who had received one though
My tracking only says….. DX is unable to find the consignment relating to the details provided.
Please note that this could be because either the tracking number or postcode is incorrect, or the delivery was made more than 30 days ago.
@winrya Sorry, that is what mine says as well. I contacted DX and they said they didn't have anything for my post code. I'd imagine there is a load of boxes at Evans waiting to be collected and the 5th was auto-generated email. It is Evans, I anticipated something like this.
Ah good to know. Think I’ll hold off ordering anymore upgrades for it incase it doesn’t arrive
maybe they only have 1 collection each week…. I would have ordered much earlier if it was any other retailer than a Fraser group owned one. Also anticipated potential issues
I'm having massive FOMO right now.
Although Westbooks have some nice looking Canondale Synapses discounted to £1425, alloy and R7020 though. Still enough of a discount that you could buy an R7120 groupset from Merlin and be paying les than RRP.......
Box arrived damaged and frame cracked..... Evans couldn't care less. Basically pick a different bike or ask your employer to cancel the voucher. bugger
That’s very unlucky to arrive that damaged. But not surprised by Evans not going out of there way to help you
Mine arrived smashed up also so will be going back.
Terrible company, box not fit to carry a road bike
Gotta wonder! Seems a coincidence that both have arrived in a bad condition after weird delivery delays....
Are you going to lump the extra cost and order elsewhere or not bother now?
As it’s not needed until next year I’ll just keep an eye over Black Friday and Xmas sales. I’m sure something will come up. I’ve not seen it yet but pics don’t look good. It’s got chips of missing paint down the seat stays and lots of scuffs. I will see if I think I could polish and touch up and maybe push for some extra discount. But I’m pretty ocd so unlikely I’ll be happy
Such a shame. Mine was gouges in the crank, frame and wheel. Looked like a fair impact on the frame so wasn't touching in with a barge pole.
Certini have it at £2k and I have obviously convinced myself I need it now but bitter to swallow.
I’ve unpacked it and I am torn. It’s a stunning bike for the money. Fits me like a glove. Have another scratch on the stem and a bit of clearcoat would probably sort the chips on the frame. I’m going to send pics and see if they offer discount to stop me returning. They’ve actually done a good job of building it, just a shame they’ve put it in a flimsy box that’s far too big for it
I had a bike delivered by DX once, from a different retailer. Level of damage was consistent with a significant forklift collision. No amount of packaging is DX-proof.
DX are just about the most incompetent couriers I've ever had the misfortune to deliver anything to me.
It’s £1999 at all Specialized stores under their Black Friday offers. Price jumps on different sizes but when I popped in they said £1999 all sizes in store
I did spot the Cube Agreee C:62 race also has 24sp 105, carbon frame etc in a more sportive shaped package for £1699 which looks like a bargain . Their geometry doesn't work for me though.
Thanks for the PSA. Long story, but I ordered one online and paid an extra £20 to have the bike delivered to the store. How else were you meant to get it?! A few days later I phoned the store, the store I had ordered the bike to be collected from had shut down! The phones were diverted to another Evans store! I tried to contact Evans, but all I could get was online chat, who assured me the store was open! I phoned another Evans who were first class and said the shop in question has closed down, stock and staff are all here! I go back to the online “support” and they still assure me the shop is open (it wasn’t !). By sheer luck the other Evans in the same city had three of the SL7’s in stock, built up and on display! Including one either side of my side. I drove straight over 160 mile round trip, and bought the SL7, in my size for the discounted price.
I couldn’t believe my luck! I have now eventually been able to cancel the original order, so there should be an extra one in the system for someone!
The wheels are rubbish for a £3k bike, but other than that it’s absolutely sweet! Almost too nice as a winter bike!
The Evans staff in the bike shop seem great, and real cyclists. Evans as a company seems unreliable! Perhaps all the damaged ones have been “accidental” so they can claim on the delivery insurance, rather than sell at a loss?
Are Evans going burst with these prices ?
Evans were an absolute s**t show from start to finish for me, guess it is sort of lucky that it is the cycle to work providers problem now and not mine. This point was even further driven home after dealing with Certini, they called me about an hour after my cycle to work went to them on friday at half 5 and again today to make sure I was happy to get the bike delivered tomorrow. Ended up costing me about an extra £260 in the end but tbh I'd rather pay that to a decent company than Evans. Lesson learnt.
