I'm using Captain's on X819 rims with Stans liquid and they're fine. went on easy, inflated pretty easy, took about 20 minutes to seal, have worked for 4 months.

I can confirm that this is utter shite

They need sealant, and folk think they don't. I liked the Sauserwind I had, tubed and tubeless.

Quite clearly stated on the adverts that they require sealent

I use 2Bliss Eskar 2.3 "super-ghetto" (just tape, no cut up tube as rim strip) on non-UST Halo Freedom Disc wheels. They are superb. Inflate easily and have no air loss at all using Stans Sealant.

They were much better than the Jones TR set I had which ripped open both sidewalls within 30 miles, although the Jones Dry TR I used for Bristol 12 and more last year were great. Actually they might come out in 2 weeks if the weather is right.

I'm using the Eskars on Stan's Flows. Perfect inflation.

Eskars on 819 UST, can't recommend them highly enough.

Slight Hijak, can all those eskar lovers out there confirm how big the 2.3" width come up.

I am looking at replacing a 2.35 Maxxis HR with these and but I dont want to go much bigger in width.

So, to answer your question PROPERLY -

Yes, they work fine on standard rims with a tube. Lots of Spesh bikes are supplied with them like this, like the Eskars on my Pitch.

??? The first reply answered the original question, why are you answering it again? It also suggested they don't work well tubeless, hence the other replies.

Yes they work fine as a standard tyre on a standard rim.
But then so do pretty much all tyres (UST included, although why you'd want to do this is beyond me).

I run an Eskar 2.3 tubeless on an 819 - it's great. Went up easy and no air loss.

The 2.3 is a decent size (ie. not undersized like 2.3 high rollers). Seems almost identical in size to the new maxxis 2.25s (advantage, ardent etc).

I also really like the way there are 3 different versions with different sidewalls, so you can choose your weight to toughness ratio as suits you.

Only with a rimstrip.

Use a stans kit with the standard rims and you'll be sorted.

Eskars don't come up too huge, not as big as the Spesh resolutions I used to run
