tbh it miffs me. I get a print sub for my birthday now and im not allowed a free gift. I understand why but its still enough (and the fact that they stopped Tuesday treats) to make me not bother next year.

Shame its a lovely mag and the worst thing is i wouldn't be bothered if there wasnt a free gift. But it feels mean and although im being treated as a second class customer which i dont like.

No mag gives existing subscribers free gift offers. Not sure why people are upset that stw behaves the same way.

I know - it still sucks though; been paying their wages for over a decade and what do we get? Pah!
Then some johnny-come-lately rocks up and gets a free pair of pedals...
😆

I'm still a tad jaded after winning a comp in the STW forum a few years ago. Was promised a BMC t-shirt and cap. Got the cap, still waiting for the t-shirt. Every day that goes by hurts a little more 😥

One of those we all know why they do it and I assume they can see why a loyal customers is a bit narked about it.

Not sure what moaning about it will do tbh as they certainly wont be giving us all a set of pedals

I won a BMC t-shirt in an stw comp and actually received it. And then I won a Singletrackworld T-shirt and received it.

I'm still waiting for my subscription gift 2004 calendar though.

What a bunch of greedy so and so's. Gifts on subscriptions are an incentive to get people to subscribe.

Up to this point had assumed we were all in the same boat. Now I feel lonely as well, woe is me!

I decided to re subscribe after the scenario of lack of charge saddles previously. I will probably end up with some garish pink pedals , rather than some black or blue ones. I'll have to use the pink ones for fishing weights if that's the case.

I don't see why there can't be the occasional cover mounted gifts for all subscribers, like other magazines do. You know, some tyre levers, or a rain cape, or stickers. That sort of thing. Make everyone feel like they're getting something decent, rather than just another magazine.

I'm still a tad jaded after winning a comp in the STW forum a few years ago. Was promised a BMC t-shirt and cap. Got the cap, still waiting for the t-shirt. Every day that goes by hurts a little more

I never got the Fetish Bikes (ooh, remember) t-shirt I won in a Tuesday treats a couple of years back.
Or a reply to my inquiry as to who won the Ripley frame.

Is that the British or American fanny? One seems more exciting than the other...

I cancel my MBR sub every year then take out a new one whenever there's a good new gift going with the subscription.

It's usually much better than some plastic pedals off a BMX though...

(Personally I think Singletrack is a magazine that's probably above this sort of thing- it's readers buy it because it's content is very high quality, and they are probably too old to not see through a plastic wrapper over the mag with some socks that are too small or some stickers)

I assume those complaining don't have pedals already?

I know most of the posters on here don't actually ride a bike mind but I guess they wouldn't want pedals any how. Least ways not ones that aren't anno finished and weigh less than the air they displace in the back of their German built autobahn cruiser

Obviously. And our incentive to stay subscribed is the joy and wonder we get from access to the Premier content..

I wasn't expecting the hip flask they sent when I subscribed, so it was a nice surprise. I actually got a warm feeling inside. Might have been the Tennessee Honey that I tested it on though.

Giving away pedals is a bit like buying the Wife some hairspray for Xmas.
Its not really a present is it...
A bit like giving away pedals. If your subscribing to a bike mag you've probably already got some.

I un-subbed thinking that I'd re-up when a nice free gift came around (after 3 months) then just forgot/didn't bother.
I did buy an issue recently though and thoroughly enjoyed it. I may re-sub but I'll wait and see if any nice free gifts come around........

Jeez, lighten up would you?

Got a sub? - You still have exactly the same deal as you decided to sign up for.

Not got a sub? - If you fancy getting one now you get a set of [rather nicely shaped] DMR V6's thrown in.

None of the above? Go skateboarding.

This is just how most subscriptions work. A nice incentive to actually sign-up and if I enjoy it, I'll continue to subscribe.

Although if I get pink I definitely won't. 😉

is that the articles that are now being reproduced in non premier content form? or the reviews? or the tuesday treats?

Shame. Yes the mag is great. Its nicely printed and its all good appart from the feeling that even if you subscribe you have to agree to it being a rolling one before getting a gift. Just 12 months isnt good enough.

I am now nursing a sprained ankle.

On the upside, I'm no longer needing any pedals...

It's the way that it reads especially as I came across it on Facebook I showed it to 3 other people and they all thought it meant it was a free gift for current subscribers.

I've been a subscriber since Go far and was one of the people who subscribed up front to help get the magazine off the ground, I like the magazine, (although as someone who loves the smell of freshly opened paper, I have to say this magazine stinks!)

I was going to suggest maybe ST could offer a discount on the RRP of the pedals for existing subscribers, but then....

Plastic pedals with plastic pins that run on bushings and can't be serviced? I don't feel too upset I'm missing out. I suppose they'll be warmer in sub-zero conditions if you're doing the Rov 150 or Iditabike? 😉

A bit like the v-publishing trail center guidebook. Sounds nice, then you realise its utterly pointless.

Presumably its free because the manufacturer couldn't sell them.

Miserable set of shags.

I can't believe a real person would genuinely be annoyed at not being given free gifts for continuing to subscribe.

I've not won a Tuesday comp for 2 years. If these pedals make more folk subscribe then my chances of winning more free stuff will be diminished. I am scandalised!

Saw you coming :-p It was worth a flick through, but compared to the others you have to wonder why someone decided to write a book detailing routes which are nicely signposted with 50p forestry commission trail maps available, and websites for each center?
