[#6729533]

Already arranged for me and my mate to get out in the snow on his Farley.......it's been two years since we've had any snow and he's been praying since he got it in November but also sat here thinking how many bought a fatty but now it's snowing and going to be freezing cold are thinking sod that for a game of soldiers.....and will there now be a flurry of them on the classifieds......

I'm guessing most folk didn't make the mistake of buying them for the occasional flurry of snow

I shall be going out on my bike when it snows. It only has 2.35 tyres. It will be fine..or will I die a slow horrible unfashionable death ?

What with the ON ONE price drop second hand ones are practically worthless now.
If I must take one of your hands I've got £200 waiting.

If it settles, then I will. But there won't be anywhere near enough and it won't last long enough to bother.

If it snows I'll do what I normally do and get out there on my non-fat bike.

It's been snowing here for a couple of hours, it's about 2-3" deep.

I'm off out on mine tonight for an hour just to be sure I've not missed the snow ride, then tomorrow morning if the snows still here.

I feel I must add.....I don't own one, I'll just follow in his compressed wheel tracks on my 2.35 26" wheels. I resisted the niche urge purely down to the lack of snow we tend to get......and if it's bad enough to need a fat bike, I can't drive to a more distant pleasant hills and Moreland area to ride it. 😆

Just a word of caution, with 2.35" tyres on you will die, 2.4" is the minimum requirement for snow!

Well I bought mine to go riding on. To be honest don't give a flying flurry what some keyboard warrior out there thinks of them, I'll just go out and ride if I feel like it.

trout.
The real problems start when your beard is so tangled up in your sandals that you can't even get to your fatbike that you bought all those years ago. 😉

So is a fatbike a snow/sand only experience?

😆
I suppose if you live in the climes that a 4x4 is a necessity then there would be no extra fun in going out to play in it. I am hoping that the road conditions allow me to get us close enough to the Chase in the morning in my small van on standard tyres, if not we will just go local.
And there is no way dirty bikes will be going in my AWD car and I wouldn't purposefully use it round town unless I needed to go on a longer journey AWD doesn't mean it stops any quicker than 2WD which half the towns folk with big 4x4s can't understand...... But that's a whole other nest of wasps to poke! 😆

Any bike is a snow bike.

Fatbikes are just better for it.

Snow riding is fun, why wouldn't you ride in it?

I wonder how many sassenachs...

I imagine from the phrase that you're Scottish. And I also imagine you think the term 'sassenachs' is somehow insulting or derogatory, similar to if I were to call you a jock.
I know what that word means and where it comes from, and it's actually quite a compliment to me, so thanks. 🙂

Sassenach is in no way insulting or derogatory unless it pertains to their ability to deal with 2 flakes of snow. I can't imagine anybody being upset by being called a jock either. Unless of course they are one of the irrelevant people that run around looking for things to be offended by either in person or on behalf of others. Chill petal, may your fat wheels find some snow to play on and you have a blast. I'll be on frozen mud and ice tomorrow instead, I'll give the snow a rest this weekend and watch the TV coverage of how 2" grinds huge areas to a standstill and dominates headlines.
