I stopped up in a different province to see some old friends last weekend. One of them used to be a giant fatty, until he got a fixed gear bike and turned it into his main form of transport.

I have a voodoo wanga at home, that I have planned on single speeding for ages, but have been too lazy to.

What do I need for the whole project?

I presume - singlespeed rear sprocket kti
bmx chain
Do I need a special single speed crank? I have a gusset one in the shed but also a sram one currently fitted.
Is it necessary to have one with out shift pins etc? or can I get away with what is fitted?

gearing wise. it's hoing to be used on the road. do I still need 2:1 or can I go higher?

Wanga has sliding dropouts - do I need a chain device or not?

2:1 is a good start. if you already have a ring that matches your desired ratio (or near) then use that till you figure out just what you need. If the chain line is good then a ramped ring wont affect it so much.

As stated, no need for tensioner. single speed chain is a good idea though.
