Right so I've cocked up! Currently sitting in Auckland NZ, with a Garmin edge touring - heading out in a couple of days on a long tour and I've forgotten to load the garmin maps for NZ. I don't have a laptop with me, just an android phone. Anyone know of any work around a for this?
The phone supports usb OTG, so if I get a cable and connect up via usb to the phone am I going to be able to drop the map straight on? No removable sd card on this unit!
Any help gratefully received or I'll throw myself at the mercy of a bike shop!
In theory yes.
You could download the OSM for NZ, and extract the GMAPSUPP file and put it onto your garmin via USB OTG. As long as your phone can see the garmin as a drive.
Follow instructions here (but modify to download to smartphone and copy relevant file over USB OTG):
